i think there are About 1300+ F-16 and there will be no more Additions last one was delivered, they have received over 2,231 frames of different block configuration and theyve embarked on "Common Configuration Implementation Program upgrade"SABRE said:It would be long time...they have over 1000 F-16s. They'll start to be grounded when JSF starts comin in. 2020 not realy no. more I would say. Pakistan would probably ground arround the time when spare parts production is abt to be closed.
Pakistan will then try to make copies of spares or they can also try to fix the spares from JF-17 thunder caz Pakistan is not gonna waste any F-16 caz they are too costlySABRE said:It would be long time...they have over 1000 F-16s. Yep the MLU's are being given to the old F-16's. But I doubt components of the F-16's could be used for the FC-1; maybe (a big 'maybe' due to American influence) it could be used for the J10's, however I doubt it (reason prementioned).lakhani said:I think Pakistan should stick to buy F-16s.The reason is, since with the shopping of new f-16, Pakistan will get some new technology too and which could be used by Pakistan in its JF-17 project. Also she could upgrade its old f-16 with the purchase.

Red aRRow said:No, that is not the reason. Thing is that the K-8 is labour intensive and unreliable (compared with the T-37). It needs a lot of maintenance for little flying time. On the other hand the T-37 Tweety birds are extremely reliable and require much less maintenance. That is the reason why PAF has only 12 K-8s in its inventory.
adsH said:Any Collusion of American and Chinese tech would irk the US. the US ASked PAF not to integrate the SD-10 BVR MIssile on the Current F-16 which is a NESCOM/Chinese project last I checked. The US does not want CHinese Engineers neer there Provided Equipment this could be the reason why Pakistan seems to be scaling back on the K-8 project. If i was analyzing the behavior i could swear that the US might be moving inn while Kicking the Chinese out of Air complexes throughout Pakistan. The Last Large Deal for the TPS radar Network involved Hiring contractors to assist operate the network.
A Khan said:AdsH: how do you think China will react to that? i presume that china wouldnt like it very much... so how can pakistan make china happy again? my GUESS would be, PAF showing more interest in JF-17 and J-10 program, and signing up for a "small" symbolic number of J-10s.
SABRE said:Iys about the time tht PAF buys those Belgiun F-16s. The deal has been on pending for too long. We should buy those Block 15 & 32 A/B & get them MLU. This will quicken up the induction as we would be getting some ready made F-16s.
24new+39old(with MLU)+ 32 Belgiun F-16s = 95 F-16s in inventory by 2008-9.
