by the way what was pakistan's criteria for selecting the f22p?

i believe pakistan should have gone for the french lafayette(or a cheaper downgraded version of it),france would have also given them tot.

Pak-China signs agreement for manufacturing of fourth F-22P frigate

SHANGHAI, March 30 (APP): Pakistan, China signed an agreement here Thursday for the indigenous construction of fourth F-22P Frigate in Karachi.
The agreement was inked by Rear Admiral Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, Managing Director Karachi Shipyard and Yu Yang, Executive Vice President China Shipbuilding Trading Company.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the Secretary Defence Production Lt Gen (Rtd) Ali Muhammad Orakzai, President Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Zhou Jianneng and Consul General of Pakistan, Shanghai Zafaruddin Mahmood.
Signing of the agreement is yet another milestone in ever-increasing bilateral relations between the two countries in maritime sector, Defence sources said here while talking to APP.
The agreement includes upgrading of Karachi Shipyard, training and technical assistance by Chinese side during construction of the construction of fourth F-22P frigate.
Under a contract that signed by the two countries in April last year, China will transfer technology to Pakistan for manufacturing of F-22P Frigates.
This project, while contributing significantly to maritime defence of the country, will also add a new dimension to China-Pakistan collaboration in the defence sector," the sources added.
The induction of F-22P frigates in the Pakistan Navy will significantly augment the existing surface fleet coupled with the transfer of the technology advantage.

i think first three were built in china, and 4rth in pak because it is ToT contract, so they started to make facilities for construction of 4rth frigate.

by the way i remember reading an interview of the pakistani naval chief on a efence website(not exactly sure if it was keypublishing or worldaffairsboard),that pakistan was looking at acquiring missile corvettes(missile firing vessels of 1600-2500ton displcament)instead of missile boats and maybe a couple of minesweepers ,can you or anyone confirm this,if so it seems to be a considerable change in doctrine since i dont think pakistan ever operated a corvette before.

Latest news isd that PN is negotiating the sale of the initial 2 Elli class frigates from Greece. These are slightly modified Dutch S (Standard) frigates, of which Greece got 2 new builds and 8 more used from the Dutch navy. Only 6 will be upgraded by Greeve, the 2 being negotiated are part of the 4 that will not be upgraded. Or so we are told ...

so guys what do you think are the chance for the indian and pakistani navy carrying out joint excercises together ,do you think that the relationship between the two nations has thawed sufficiently for such an excercise?

indian navy chief definitely seems to be interested in an indo-pakistani naval excercise.

here check out this link:

Navy ready for joint exercises with Pak: Admiral Arun PrakashUDHAGAMANDALAM, APR 28 (PTI)
The Indian Navy is ready to undertake joint exercises with its counterparts in Pakistan, as the two countries enjoy an "excellent" bilateral relationship, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Arun Prakash said here today.
"It (relationship) is excellent and if we get a chance, we are ready to go ahead with joint exercises with the Pakistan Navy," he told PTI. Asked about the several joint exercises of the Navy, he said the Indian Navy has such exercise programmes with U.S.A., U.K. And Oman. "We did such an exercise with the French Navy in Goa and it was a rewarding experience," he said. On the modernisation of the Indian Navy, he said the Navy frequently inducts the latest technology.

let us assume that both the countries carry out a joint excercises, what vessels do you think pakistani navy will use for these excercises and their roles?

by the way how does the pakistani navy choose its vessels for a joint excercise?

I have conducted joint exercises with smaller nation's navies and find that they only use their most up-to-date platforms. They want to show off their best.:D Showing weakness on an international level is the last thing they want to do.
