So far were expecting WS-10.
DragonKing just wanted to clear some confusion see the WS-10A "Taihang" engine was developed for the J-10 aircraft and this engine is comparable to the Russian AL-31F.On the other hand the WS-13 "Tianshan-21" engine was developed for the JF-17 Thunder and is comparable to the Russian RD-93 engine so we are expecting the WS-13 engine for our Thunders.
Hope things are clear now

i dont think that jf-17 coming to Pakistan for the parade will have WS-13 as it needs alot of testing and flight hrs before it will be given a green signal for this aircraft. also by the look of it, russians havent yet put their foot down on the matter so its safe to assume that jf-17 will have rd-93, for now atleast.

Their is a link to a report either some where in this thread or the JF-17 thread,. where it said they are now testing the engine, it's just a matter of time before the engine is put into production.

About the Russian's I don't know, remember it was first reported in a Indian news paper and other papers just picked it up, so we will have to wait and see until the March 23 flight. But I can assure you PAF said, it will fly on March 23, so we just have to hold our fingers tight, also their was a picture released showing one of the 2 jets that will be given to PAF.

They had an article saying that the long duration testing is about to start on WS-13A, which is a lot earlier than I expected. If we go by the WS-10A unveiling schedule, that means WS-13A will be finish the testing in the second half of this year, achieve certification sometime near the end of this year or beginning of next year and then be unveiled in the middle of the next. Depending how desperate paf/plaaf are, they might choose to equip production version of JF-17 with WS-13A by then. The thing is that when new engines like WS-13A, they have a lot of issues and you want to collect enough flight hours (a good thing would be if they have a twin-engined fighter like Mig-29) with the engine to sort out all of the small problems.

Just found this picture on a Chinese website, which says it's a stealth verson of JF-17. I don't think it's real though. Coz it does look like PSed IMO. But it would be nice to see the new front 'stealth' design on production JF-17 though. It shouldn't be that hard to modify. Coz from the look of it, it seems that the new front end is pretty much cosmatic.

dragon i dont doubt the fact that JF-17 will be equiped with WS-13 sooner than later, but for now and considering that only one month remains before the parade, i dont think jf-17 has enough flight hours with WS-13 to be considerd safe to fly and show different aerobatics infront of general public.so my bet is on jf-17 with rd-93 on march 23rd,2007.

Thats a pure BS ... I live in Islamabad & nothing sort of that has ever happened. In fact no IAF jet has ever flew over Islamabad in history. Since 1971 there have been no fighter jet crossings by either country (Kashmir/Kargil being exceptional). There have only been spy plane flights by both countries

Hello to you as well Turkish friend.
there had been one crossing ,but i believe that was more than a decade ago,i will try to give you the link for that, though i dont know wether it was low enough to produce a sonic boom.

Indians have been using there foxbat to spy on Pakistan for a long time.i have no idea why pilot decided to use after burner on that particular day.we had no idea about those flights were taken place till that sonic boom.i believe after that we installed some Sam's.soon after that India retired her fleet of foxbat as know they have satellites.

it was just to show pakistan that there was nothing that they could do about it,pakistan had no misisles which were capable of intercepting the mig25 even at low altitudes, they tried scrambling their f-16's but there was no way that the f16's could catch up with the mig25's,even before the f16's could reach their altitude the mig25 would be back in the indian air space.

it was the mig25 pilot's way of challenging and telling them to do what they can.

aaaditya pakistan does have the ability to intercept foxbats ever heard of the SA-2 they are installed in kahuta specifically to avoid reconiasance flights over islamabad.in order to enter islamabad's airspace you got to pass through kahuta and by the way the SA-2 has a ceiling of 85,000 ft and a range of 60 km.under these circumstances i dont think your theory of challenging the PAF is feasible enough
well that's what i think:)
