Actualy its H-4 (modified version of T-Darter of South Africa) with a range of 120Km (according to some reports). According to other reports Pakistan also has H-2 with the range of 60Km.

I am still confused wheather these are BVR Air to Air Missiles or BVR Bombs. According to reports they were handed over to PAF in 2003-2004.

Its a BVR bomb SABRE.
Some sources say that its a Air to air missile but i saw it on PTV a long time ago. they showed the test and the target was on the ground.

I found out that they are bombe but some cowboy journalists list it as "Missiles". How foolish of me. If it was A2A missile it would have been more famous than it is.

I guess it should be excluded from A2A BVR Missile list I mentioned. We go back to

1. AIM-120 AMRAAM [F-16s]
2. MICA [Mirage-3/5 ROSE III]
3. SD-10 [JF-17 & some F-7PGs]

We might get a 4th verient when we decide on another AC.

Just a little update...

Pakistan will get two F16s by December

WASHINGTON: Jehangir Karamat, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, on Friday said that Pakistan would get two F16s by December.

In an interview to APP, the ambassador said there were a lot of stages that had passed and things were going smoothly after the approval for F16s’ sale to Pakistan early this year. Right now, he said, the exact configuration, cost and number of F16s to be sold to Pakistan were being negotiated between the two countries. “We are looking at something like 75 F16s.â€

About the state of Pakistan-US relations, Jehangir said these were “very very good†at the moment.

“There are no problems as such, except that there are ongoing discussions on visas to Pakistani citizens and formalities at airports and border points, especially at the Canadian border.†The point, he said, was that relations in all areas had broadened and the two countries were addressing mutual concerns and pursuing mutual interests. PAF F16: Block 50/52 sale going ahead?

Has U.S congress granted final approval on the sale of Block 50/52's? I understand PAF wants this version but the U.S is still considering their position on selling them to due to the 'weapons systems, targeting pods, radars and electronic warfare equipment' package requested. I'm looking for some 'firmer' information about this deal.

Pakistan must forget the weapon package caz they would be costly pakistan must try to get the best versions of F-16's and try to fix the SD-10 on the F-16's this will decrease the cost

What are you talking about Kashif:confused: . Pakistan must not forget about the weapons package. thats the most important thing. Pakistan has time and time again that the F-16 it purchases must come with the best weapons to suit PAF. and if they are not given then PAF would reject the F-16.

Re: Pakistan Airforce News and Discussions

we haven't rejected them so calm down a little. all i'm saying is that PAF officials have said many times that the F-16 is just a flying box without the good weapons systems and avionics. they have also said that we would only go through with the deal provided that PAF gets the avionics and weapon systems specified. These are the brand new block 50/52's i'm talking about by the way.

Re: Pakistan Airforce News and Discussions

On 19th august the joint chief of staff handed over the 2019 plans to the PM Shuakat Aziz. Since the plan has been submitted I presume that the PAF has selected its AirCraft.

From my evaluations, conclusions & guessings from what I have herd, JAS-39 Gripen may have won the top seat. Cant say abt AWACs.

But I am not saying any thing for sure. Plans can change.

Would that be enough for a while P.A.F.

If we are to buy C-130J you would come to know it, they should be mentioned in the plans. According to my sources Army, Navy & AirForce has finalized its purchased & stated them in the plans. All equipment mentioned has been placed there after the discussions with the sellers.

A C-130 can double up as a Refueler, could you find out if that would be the case !!

Hmm...I'll ask. Never knew C-130 can be upgraded to fuel tanker aircrafts. I would rather like to see aircrafts like KC-767 Tanker/Transporter, KC-135 A2A refueling aircraft & Global Air Tanker Aircraft.

what i do know is that other air forces have made them into AWACs and refuelers. not shaw that pakistan would do that though as we need more transporters. where scraping 1-3 of our C-130s to use for spares.

Islamabad to buy 22 more K-8 trainers
Published: Thursday, 25 August, 2005, 12:52 PM Doha Time

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan government has decided to buy 22 K-8 jet trainers from China, which offers a modern training platform to pilots of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Sources said the decision to buy more K-8 jet trainers was taken on seeing the aircraft’s suitability, outclass functions and the best results. Pakistan has earlier purchased 12 jet trainers from China in the last fiscal year 2003-04 for training purposes.

A $20mn K-8 advanced jet trainer has been designed and produced by the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC), Kamra and China’s Nanchang Aircraft Manufacturing Company (NAMC) and is manufactured at the NAMC.

The K-8 is a tandem-seat advanced jet trainer with a low-set unswept wing. It was first flown in 1991 and is intended to completely replace the T-37s in service with PAF. The aircraft has the capability for light air-to-ground close support.

Presently, 22 aircraft have been ordered but the number might reach 100 keeping in view the PAF demand, sources said.

The K-8 jet is a two-seat advanced jet trainer and is a light ground attack aircraft. It has a Collins EFIS-86 system in first 100 aircraft, incorporating CRT primary flight and navigation displays for each crewmember plus dual display processing units and selector panels for tandem operations.

The jet provides basic training for A-5 and F-5, advanced training for F-7, F-8, 16 and F-18, air-to-air and air-to-ground weapon delivery, spin and other aerobatic flights, taking off and landing training and close support on ground strike.

The first batch of six K-8 jets (with Collins EFTS-86 MFD and Allied Signal TFE-731-2A turbofan) was delivered to PAF in January 1995 and the second batch is designed for air defence role with the Chinese PL-7 under wing Sidewinder AAMs and a gun pod (23mm) under the fuselage. – Internews

The next batch should be eqipped with the SD-10:D (Joke).

Re: Pakistan Airforce News and Discussions

seems pakistan airforce is once again interested in qatari mirages.

PAKISTAN OFFERS MILITARY GOODS TO QATAR

ABU DHABI [MENL] -- Pakistan has resumed a drive to enter the military market in Qatar.

Pakistani and industry sources said Islamabad has offered to sell a range of air, ground and naval platforms and equipment to Qatar's military. They said Pakistan has also expressed strong interest in purchasing Qatar's fleet of Mirage 2000-5 fighter-jet fleet.

"Qatar has made enormous progress in recent years and we want to contribute towards Qatar's development," Pakistani Chief of Staff Gen. Ihsan Al Haq said.

Al Haq has been conducting a four-day visit to Qatar in which he discussed a range of military cooperation. He said Pakistan has sought to embark on defense and military joint ventures.
