The spokesman for French president Nicolas Sarkozy on Friday would not confirm a newspaper report that Morocco may not buy Rafale fighter planes from Dassault Aviation (AVMD.PA: Quote, Profile, Research) but could instead buy the French TGV high-speed train.
"I do not confirm anything," David Martinon told a weekly news conference.
French daily La Tribune on Wednesday reported that the Moroccan government was set to accept a rival offer to buy F-16 fighter planes made by U.S. company Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research).
Citing industrial sources, it said that France and Morocco were negotiating commercial compensation, notably the purchase of the high-speed train, which is being manufactured by Alstom.
