Hi guys,

My name is Grant from Perth, Australia. I have always been interested in joining the ADF but due to my hearing impairment, they couldn't accommodate me in the regular or reserves.

Still, I retain interest in the ADF by reading magazines such as Asia Pacific Defence Reporter, Australia Defence Magazine, Air Land, Sea Contact and Australian and New Zealand Defender. I also browse the web for information regarding the ADF and defence forces in the Asia Pacific region.

Look forward to joining in the discussions with you all.

Hey guys. I'm new here and am guessing that this is the best place to post my introduction.
I'm an army cadet from Woodside.
I know quite a bit about the military, probably very little compared to you guys.

I spend most of my time playing Xbox, Modifying Nerf guns (increasing the range and accuracy) and wasting my life on the computer.

I joined the forums because I had a question for a school project but hope to contribute to noobs like myself.

Thanks,
Bulletproofvest.

Helllo everyone,
I guess I'm here to learn more about the military as it's an important topic, no matter which way you look at it and what your opinions on the matter are.
I've got a year left of school after this one, then I'll probably be heading off to Uni to do a course on foreign relations and/or history.
I've got no plans to join the military (Unless there's a need to defend Australia, which is very unlikely). I'm currently juggling my time between school-related stuff, enjoying some time with friends and playing computer games (I love a good strategy game ). I haven't worked for a few months now.
I guess I know a bit more about the military than your average person, but I tend to focus on the 'why'. Why is this country purchasing that aircraft? What threats are they trying to deal with? How does it fit into their military operations? In that regard, I hope to gain a bit more technical knowledge on the capabilities of certain weapons.

I guess that's all I have to say. :)

Hi Lots of things

Hi.
You will find anything to do with aviation very interesting. I spent the last year of the War as a Naval Messenger on the Grimsby Naval Base HMS Beaver. I was called up for National Service in 1948 and served with the Royal Artillery. 3 months after demob I signed on in the Royal Air Force and was with 617 Squadron (The Dam Busters) I trained as electrical fitter and worked on Avro Lincoln and the English Electric Canberra. Spent 6 months in Malaya at RAF Butterworth. Now retired and helo my wife breeding miniature poodles. I also spent 30 years in Air Cadets as a warrant office. Keep you interest going and as soon as you can, join the air force.

Hi I'm Alex. I'm in the UK and have made links with various US entities here. Am interested in moving from research into defence, in support of USAF/UK activities.

Am interested to know if anyone else has made a similar jump, as a Brit working for the US here, on the civilian side.
