On the original site that posted the cam'd 2208, there are half dozen pics taken from different angles. And usually, he should have much more in his computer.

And the reason why the pic looks fuzzy is because nobody is willing to pay him to get the clear ones. Quite unfortunete, considering the amount of time and risk he's taken.

I think the "shoot-me" marine cammo indicates the role of the ship being envisaged for it i.e. littoral warfare. However I seriously think the Chinese need to rethink their marine cammo pattern, I think they'll do better wearing those bull's eye t-shirts.

LOL, it sounds like as if he'll be shot if he's caught.
Well if it's really 'forbidden', then I'll guess the PLA would of built a structure right around the ship.

I think that one is a PS as well. The hull penants are irregular.

The site which posted the camo'd 2208 is www.86junshi.com. It's one the several chinese sites that post many original pictures. Most of these sites are based in ShangHai, that's why they have more pics taken in ShangHai.

Secondly, only 1-2 months after 2208 was lauched, some forumers already said there are at least 5 shipyards got the contract to build this type of FAC and we would see new pics soon. If you go to those chinese forums and say those pics are fake, people will laugh their heads off. I only saw 1-2 fake pics of this type FAC, all the rest are real ones. I am talking about dozens if not hundreds of them.

yes I know that, and I believe I've mentioned the names of the 5 yards in either this forum or a chinese one (too many forums!)

the penant numbers are irregular in height. I'm not interested if they laugh at what I believe, I'm more interested in making sure we don't become a site that gets trapped in posting fake images at the expense of having "scoops"

Show me more images of this vessel from different but "bow on" angles and I'll be convinced.

There are another half dozen new photos of this cam'd 2208 surfaced on the www.86junshi.com site, just as I expected, that guy got much more pics. He needs to decide what can be safely posted.

I can understand your approach to those pictures. Well, I don't know your back ground, gf0012-aust. But since I was born and grew up in china, so I do believe I got the sixth sense to tell whose lying on those chinese language forums inside china. And this guy who posted these 2208 pics is trust worthy and he has never posted any PS'd pics. I believe he has hundreds if not thousands of pics of PLAN new ships built in ShangHai. He would be mad to PS them.

Also, I'll see if I can find some good pics for you. But, man, people in china don't work for me.

No offence, but I see Chinese posters support complete [REMOVED] from other Chinese posters all the time. It doesn't matter if it's some ridiculous conspiracy theory, [REMOVED], etc. [Admin edit: Red aRRow: Everyone take it easy please.]
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I agree with gf0012-aust. This site shouldn't be a rumour mill.

Sorry, I have to ignore most of your points cause I think what you are saying has nothing to do with what I was trying to say. Unless you mean calling authentic pictures FAKE is spreading rumor, which I only see it as an opinion.


Back to the point, may be I did not say it clear, each poster has his own judgement on news or rumors. But you have to admit that if you more familiar with a certain area/criteria/culture, you are more capable of telling the difference from news and rumors. And that's why I can easily say this cam'd 2208 is real, but I would find it very hard for me to say whether a news or pic about AUS military is real or not. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, I am not trying to ask you to believe me. What I am doing is to provide you with some extra info from another side of the story. The good thing about military issues on china is that nearly nobody can be 100% sure, and many so called 'rumors' are real.

My only problem is who is going to decide what is a rumor?

Indians to decide china related things or Chinese to decide AUS related things?

Frankly speaking, real rumors don't live very long. If you think it's a rumor, just ignore it (like some guy was talking about china's 095 SSBN) and if only very few people respond to it, it will disappear. But if it stays, then you are wrong. Simple as that.

Actually one of the reasons why I am here as an international moderator is to help in diffusing and de-fusing conflict between Indian/Pakistani/Chinese topics etc.... it provides a balance and allows a different perspective. as for Australian (if you are saying AUS??) faked photos, I've yet to see any faked images ever get shown in Australian military forums - we just don't tolerate that kind of behavior. In some of the Australian military sites where we have had kids start trolling, abusing or posting rubbish, we would evict them straight away. But, be that as it may, any posts or pics that Australians posted purporting to be real equipment would be subject to the same amount of enquiry. After all, thats the role of the moderators, to police the quality and content of info that strikes the board.

As an example, Fighter Jets popping out of the water and presented as actual weapons systems is a good example of how common sense can be abandoned in the quest to have a "scoop".
