Here is my priority wishlist for the Indonesian Navy :Parchim class is an ASW corvette. Once it was used as patrolling force but then brought up to striking force. Most of them (if not all) has been upgraded with new engines.
I read too about PT PAL built national corvette based on Italy's Comandanti class and even there was a miniatur/model of it in local magazine..Eventhough no updated news bout this, DoD has stated to spend more on locally build weaponry, including corvette.
About Sigma i wonder what kind of helo will be put on. ASW helo? or just NBO-105 as liason and transport helo? coz now the navy has no platform for ASW helo. French's Panther was consider years ago by Chief of Navy at that time but no further confirmation.
Well, I don't know you're an Indon or not but I've got some info atI read that TNI-Al just got 3 new fast patrol boats, namaly "Boa", "Anakonda" and "Piton". I don't understand if these ships were newly built at TNI-AL shipyards or old hulls renovated.
The article did't mention if they are steel or composite made (I doubt there is a composite technology available in Indonesia...)
Would anybody have pictures???
Thanks

May be because the Kilo are more oceangoing and Amur more coastal subs, but honestly the difference is limited and I've got trouble myself understanding the logic of the whole plan.Maybe someone can enlighten me on this question I have, I'm not entirely with submarines.
Why would a navy order 2 different types of subs at one time when both the Kilo and Amur/Lada models seem to possess the similar sort of capabilities?
I don't think the differences between submarine types are discussed enough, in many ways online discussions regarding the differences in submarines rarely extend beyond the propulsion system. Why would a navy order 2 different types of subs at one time when both the Kilo and Amur/Lada models seem to possess the similar sort of capabilities?
Well Ma'te they gotta compete with the Scorpenes in Malaysia, The Gotlands in Singapore and the Collins in Australia.you know, perhaps these subs will be used for patrols, nothing says we mean business like a sub pulling out of the water while someones sneaking guns or robbing ships
To be picky, its "to hell with you guys" 'Go to' is just rude.to those who feel/think that we don't suppose to buy the subs, i said that "go to hell with you guys :lul" . we have our own strategy and we know our country better than anyone of u. about the patrol boat, of course we need the patrol boat but we also need the "big gun" like frigates, corvettes and even subs. we are trying to make our own patrol boat right now. we have fasharkan (maintenance and repair facility) who can also build small patrol boat. for bigger boat we also have PT PAL. for military spending in the near future we are focussing on our navy and airforce,if u want to see our ships u can see in this link http://www.cvl.iis.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~kazmi/KRI.html
