On red-stars.org I read that the VMF some time ago had a single squadron of Mi 24.
Don`t know whether this is true, but seems they have been retired already.

RIAN reports that the MoD has signed an order for eight Be 200 aircraft, which will be delivered between 2014 and 2016.
Russlands Militär bestellt Amphibienflugzeuge | Sicherheit und Militär | RIA Novosti

Guess they will replace the outdated Be 12, of which only four are still flying.
As it stands there is no contract, only a pre-contract agreement.

6 of them are supposed to be in standard configuration (which makes no sense because they're firefighting planes) and 2 are supposed to be airborne command posts.

Also there was a fire aboard the project 20380 soobrazitelniy. The fire was put out after an hour, but the ship was left immobile for over 24 hours.

The article on RIAN says an order has been placed
Don't know whether the translator made a mistake.

I guess "standard configuration" in this case means SAR, as the MoD is still looking for a new ASW-aircraft. Although two years ago it was anounced that the A-42 had been selected...

I'm going to go ahead and believe CAST, over RIAN. They generally have a much better track record for getting the details right, and doing their research properly. At the end of the day RIAN is just a news agency, while CAST is a think tank dedicated to military and defense issues. There were also considerable difficulties in signing contracts recently, meaning that it's rather unlikely that a large new contract for an aircraft in very low-rate production would be so easy to sign.

From Septembers issue of Warships IFR

French shipbuilder DCNS is getting on with preparations to construct two Mistral class helicopter carriers for the Russian Navy. Upgrades and modifications to the design are required for fitting specific weaponry and sensors plus the ability to embark and operte Kamov Ka-52 and Ka-27 helicopters. Additional work is also needed to provide a higher degree of electrical power for de-icing the flight deck.

With the first Preliminary Design Review pssed in April, the second stage is set for completion next month (Sept). Construction of the first 100 tonnes block for the lead vessel is progressing at the STX shipyard in Saint Nazaire, under terms of a subcontract from DCNS. The sterns of the two ships will be built as 12 blocks by Russias's OSK shipyards (under subcontract to STX). The initial block by STX is due to be laied down in early 2013 and will herald the beginning of the assembly process.

The first ship, named Vladivostok, is to be constructed in France with the second partially constructed in France buy assembled in Russia. Vladivostok is set for delivery in 2014 with the second vessel, Sevastapol, in 2015. Also provided will be associated services, such as logistics, training and technology transfers.

DCNS, as prime contractor for the warships' construction, also has responsibility for the intergration of the operations management and communications systems, The 22,000 tonnes, 199 meters long carriers will give the Russian Navy an unprecedented amphibious assault capability and also capacity to embark command staff. Two further ships of the class may be built in Russia.
Apologies if there is spelling mistakes, fast typing :p:

But still, it's good to know the wheels are still moving, although to me the more interesting piece of info was that there's a potential for there to be an extra 2 vessels constructed in Russia.

Boykiy has started sea trials. It's the third project 20380 ship, the second carrying the Redut SAM. However the A-190 arty module for it isn't ready yet, and hasn't ben mounted. It started sea trials carrying a weight load to represent the module.

Admiral Gorshkov is to start sea trials in November acoudring to military sources.

Looks like the program is back on track.

Frigate Admiral Gorshkov Starts Trials in November
That's wrong. Sea trials are scheduled for next spring. The A-192 gun for it failed, and the program has been cancelled. A replacement program has yet to be announced. It will start some system trials in Novemever, but without leaving port.

The top photo in this link is a picture of the ship in September of this year.

The whole ship project has been cancelled? What a waste....
No, the A-192 auto-cannon project has been cancelled. I suppose they could just mount the A-190 on it, but production for those is also problematic at the moment, a project 20380 just went to sea trials with a deadweight instead of the gun, because it couldn't be delivered on time. And it's a notably smaller system.

Is the AK-130 already taken out of production? Maybe they can use it as an interim solution...

It remains to be seen what they use as a replacement.

Meanwhile, some other news, the Ka-27M has finally started trials. It was originally set for trials at the same time as the Ka-52 and Ansat-U, but the project ended up delayed. Given that there is no new ASW helo, and that the AVMF is rapidly aging, with now new aircraft, and only a few upgraded ones, this is good news. The upgrade involved both the helo itself, and the onboard ASW gear. It also has a service life that's 10-15 percent longer. This wouldn't be much of a life extension for in service aircraft, so this could mean a new production run.

The Russian Pacific Fleet press service has also posted some photo material on the 155th Marine Brigade, involving landing exercises conducted recently. The 155th Marines are the best equipped Marine brigade, their BTR-80s are very new, and they have fairly modern individual tactical gear, including modern flaks and kevlars. The unit has been spotted with tactical LBVs in the past, but it's not clear whether the entire unit has them. It's possible that they do, and simply don't use them on many field exercises.

Also work is continuing on the Ivan Gren project 11711 landing ship/troop transport. It's not clear whether the plan will still be for 6 ships, as originally planned, or just the two on which work has started. There is no other replacement for Soviet era landing ships, and no competing projects. If you look at the top two photos, and the bottom ones, you can see the latest ones, and the ships looks almost complete, as far as the hull and superstructure.

Is this project also known as Project 550 Yazua? That's also a landing ship.

I've found two project 550 ships. One is a large transport, not a landing ship, it only exists in one ship, the Yauza, and is in service with the North Fleet. It's used to transport nuclear waste. The other is an oil tanker... neither would be large landing ships (BDK). I'm assuming you're talking about the first one, but it can't compete with the Ivan Gren. It was a one-ship design, build in 1974. Where did you get your info?

With these new stealth ship designs coming from russia, One thing just baffles me. Why is it the ship's deck is still very cluttered when they can design a sleek finish on its side profile? The equipments seem all over the place when viewed from the top.
After gaining experience with the designs with their corvettes, landing ship etc, why do they keep producing more stealth design in such a way?
When compared to western design's the top deck is much more cleaner with most equipments concealed.
Even the chinese latest stealth design's look more better from the top.
It seems they go all the way only to screw it form the top.

I was told it was a tank transport, so I'm pretty sure it's the first one, it's currently being refitted, my company sold sold a large quantity of new lights for this project. Do you have any links to photos, I've searched but I have very little knowledge of Russian so haven't found anything.

They could be refitting the project 550 Yauza into a tank transport. However I'm not sure it would be possible to turn it into a landing ship. Either way it's a 40 year old design, that's out of production.
