Doesn't really matter about the $25m IMHO. Probably would have cost us as much in reurbishment costs to sell the C-130H's anyway. It's probably a good investment, assisting a near neighbour in diplomatic terms and a good investment for us (with the potential to reduce the use of our assets in that role), given how often we've been called upon to support Indonesia in times of crisis.Well ever since the agreement between Australia and the US both side are pulling out all stops to keep Jakarta on side. Like to know whose budget the 25million is coming out of. Plus the 3 RAN patrol boats to intercept SIEV from Indonesian waters, can see trouble brewing for Gillard again with the greens again.

If they can substantially build their own assets up and gain an adequate operational capability, it'll probably save us money in the long run...
(Not that I'm advocating we leave victims of disaster to themselves, just that it's more effective and efficient maintaining an indignenous capability to respond and handle such events, and our capabilities can boost that effort if necessary).
