T-90 Tank

Relatively public, in comparison.

Jane's Ammunition Handbook, for example, which also has far more interesting penetration forecast patterns than just RHA, especially as they consider layered armour.

Ah but the list doesnt say that there are changes A5-A6, rather it says changes A4-A5. Waylander introduced A5-A6 (see post #146)
Go back and read that list again, it does in fact state that there may have been changes to armor protection levels between A5 and A6, think about what you are posting instead of trying to antagonize fellow forum members.

And I also found these comparision data on the net posted by some poster.

M1- 400 vs KE 600 vs HEAT
M1A1- 450 vs KE 700 vs HEAT
M1A1HA- 600 vs KE 1150 vs HEAT
Leopard 2A4 - 700 vs KE 1000 vs HEAT
M1A2- 760 vs KE 1400 vs HEAT
Lacrec- 800 vs KE 1600 vs HEAT
M1A2SEP- 840 vs KE 1400 vs HEAT
Leopard 2A5- 870 vs KE 1500 vs HEAT
Challanger 2- 960 vs KE 1700 vs HEAT
Leo 2A6 may be as high as 1000mm vs KE.
As far as I - as a non-native English speaker with 10 years English language education and 10 years living abroad in an English speaking country - understand the English language, the words MAY BE imply "we don't know" + "there are different, possibly contradictory, quotes for this". It does not mean IS.

And as far as the issue of antagonizing fellow forum members goes, may I point out I've been at this forum a bit longer than you have, that I've been asked to mod at this forum (but declined), and that since my post was not directed at you or a comment you made, there is no need for you to intervene, unless you yourself seek to engage me personally. You could also have just ignored my post and shrugged (but you chose not to). So, who's antagonizing fellow forum members, really? I wonder, did you respond here because of what was posted here or because we had an exchange a while back in another thread? As in the Clapton song "before you accuse me, take a look at yourself".

If you take disagreeing about something (rightly or wrongly) and saying so as an attempt to antagonize people, you might as well shut down the entire forum membership.

@Kato
Sure, it is possible to get some data from older tanks.
But I thought we are talking about modern ones.
Not that the Leopard 1 has ever been special in regards to it's protection levels. ;)

It is also possible to draw some conclusions from published or at least known shooting tests as well as from AGDUS data for example.
Nevertheless this is not what I would call sufficient to write a list.

The same goes for other vehicles like for example the Marder. Remember the shooting test with the 30mm of the BMP-2?

@Tatra
Sure it means "maybe. But there is no room for speculation. There is no difference in armor between A5 and A6 and when some "specialist" writes such a list one might think that he knows that. The same goes for the SEP upgrade.

Come on guys. You're both smarter then this. Be nice. The accuracy of the list os obviously questionable, especially since we do not know the methodology used to produce the list. Kato I would apreciate if you posted the public data on penetration in RHA mmfor various ammunition types that is available publicly.

Guys, guys.. relax. I did not say the list is the ultimate truth! Regarding military figures, nothing is true coz all data's are classified.

ON the matter of ERA, does anyone know more about the Relikt ERA? I cant find anything on it. Is there at least a picture of it? Whats the status of the ERA? Will it be used on the planned T-95?

Find T-72 "Rogatka" upgrade pictures. There are a lot of it in internet. This upgrade use "Relict".

No, T-95 will most likely use another, more advanced type of ERA. Internal and more heavy. Possible even 2 ERAs - external and internal.

They're supposed to be shown publicly this year, but I'm not holding my fingers crossed as no follow ups on it's presentation date have followed.

It looks like a prototype or prototypes are indeed complete. But for some reason they have not been displayed to the public yet. Any clue?
CGs of this T-95 look a lot like the Teledyne Vehicle Systems 'Expeditionary tank' of the late 1970s. (image here)

yes it does. These images, including yours turns up when you look for Rogatka pictures in yahoo.com.

And regarding the Arena system, does Russian T90 divisions use ARENA APS?

Coz I dont see any T-90 in any pictures carrying the Arena APS.

No, Russia is still working out some of the bugs with Arena, so it will still be some time before it is implemented with Russian units. I should also point out that Western programs like Trophy and Iron Fist still have some teething problems also.

I am not buying that argument that you can only place Relict on a cast turret, there is a pretty good chance that the Algerian T-90 package deal included Relict.

Also - what is the future of Kaktus seeings how Black Eagle projects are shut down, could T-95 possibly go to this, most likely so.

I thought the T-80U had ARENA.

As for the Algerian deal do you have any sources?

I thought the Arena is a completed system? no? But it is a very promising technology.

Shtora soft kill APS was chosen for T-90. No plan for adding Arena, it whould be too much to have both on the turret, + extending cost.

May be next week I'll have luck to bring some pics ;)
