ARENA was tested on T-80 series along with other tanks but they have not decided to go with it.I thought the T-80U had ARENA.
As for the Algerian deal do you have any sources?
ARENA is a completed system but they are still perfecting the system, who knows maybe they are trying to swat sabots out of the air.nfloorl:I thought the Arena is a completed system? no? But it is a very promising technology.
Oh okay, and yes please be sure to post a few for us.Shtora soft kill APS was chosen for T-90. No plan for adding Arena, it whould be too much to have both on the turret, + extending cost.
May be next week I'll have luck to bring some pics
Hint: Sep.14 is the International Tankman DayExtern the tank is to be shown publicly next week? Or do you have clearence to see it before public release? Believe me I'm very interested in any information you have.

Did they say they were going to annouce it? And yes please post pictures. Even if there is no new tank, pictures are always great.Hint: Sep.14 is the International Tankman Day
So, be aware of this!
Sure, they have promised to do this in 2008. Sep.14 - is the last occasion to do that this year.Did they say they were going to annouce it? .
I have no anambigous answer. And methink they have no too: short time before the Georgian campain the chief of the Russian Army’s Armoured Weapons Directorate has retired. He was an enthusiast of T-72, T-80 and even T-62 modernisation, combined with T-90 low rate production. He was also clear against an accelerated T-95 induction. Now the politics was changed, another faction is on the upper hand. THey're pushing for T-95/T-90 combination forces and T-62, T-72\ T-80 scraping step by step. Most probably T-95 will be a part of mobile forces in case of near border intervention needed. For US territory they will not be a threat for sure.since the T-90A is going to the best divisions in the Russian Army, where will the the new tank go? Will the shiny new T-90s be retired and new tanks purchased for same divisions, or will they go to other units while the best divisions are left with sub-par tanks? Or will the T-90As be cycled out of the elite divisions into regular units, while the new tank goes to the elite units?
For average counter-insurgence warfare (remember the main duty of Caucasus district) T-62 is just as good as early T-72. I see absolutely nothing wrong in using them for convoy, guard, etc duties, especially if they are involved in a lot of movements. This greatly helps to conserver resources of "1st line" tanks like T-72B, T-80, T-90.I believe they will move the T90's to the other army divisions and put the T95's 1st in the elite army divisions. And surely scrap those T62's. They are not battle worthy.
T-64 has been dropped from the service long time ago. After the engine resource was finished they didnt ask Ukraine for spares. All T-62s- indeed were transferred to army 2 years ago from internal forces (MVD) after reorganisation and MVD tank formation liquidation. They were planned to remain on service till resource finished. I personally think after 8/8/8-War these units became the main candidates for T-90 in 58th Army. As regards to T-95 - this tank I expect to see initially in Tamansky div. since this oficially was nominated for new equipement testing.Do you know if any other combat divisions (not storage bases) have T-62's or T-64's in them?
I do not understand why you think that this is embarassing, Russia is quite capable of bring equipment in theater that can match opponent firepower, meaning that they can adjust accordingly.Tamanskaya already received T-90's, and by next year it will be completely re-armed. The Kantemirskaya is more likely to be receiving the T-95 especially given that it's a tank division not a motor-rifles. But yes I hope the 42nd gets new tanks because it's just plain embarassing, not to mention dangerous in the event of a conflict.
T-64s are still used for training purposes still correct, or have they been phased out of this also.T-64 has been dropped from the service long time ago.
