That weapon looks very much like a Walther G22, What happened to that design?, Have any been manufactured?

Apparently I kind of do not believe this but the Turkish government ordered it to be closed because they already found a replacement the Mehmetcik 1.

The american army changed there uniform and now it looks really different then the new Turkish camo. Also the new Turkish camo will help our troops, because the camo they use right now is very very dark so it helps if they use a colour that matches Turkey better considering that they used satellite images of Turkey to pick the colors. Yet I agree with you a Turkish design would have been better and I would have hoped they would have used the Steyr Aug A3 because our special forces use them and they are liked. Also Kalashnikov himself came to Turkey a few years ago to open a Ak factory except no body wanted too. On a Steyr AUG you can make it an Assault Rifle a sniper or an Infantry Support weapon, just by changing a barrel. Also people say how the requirements of the new rifle has to be designed & made in Turkey, well the MKEK mehmetcik 1 is not, it is not designed in Turkey and it is not Designed in Germany it is an American design.

*note: Turkish Special Forces uses Steyr Aug's.

Video and some pics of the Steyr AUg

I found a video for it and it is in Turkish though. But Yasin I know you will understand it if anyone wants me to translate what they say ask. From what I heard they are now replacing all rifles.

Will Mehmetcik-1 retain the exact interrior mechanics of HK416, or is it just "based on" it?

All I know about it is that they both use a gas pistons system. Because they are both Ar15 gas piston rifles they cannot have much of a difference.

Thanks for the reply. So, as far as technical aspects go (mag capacity, fire rate, muzzle velocity, range, etc) there are basically the same firearm.

same, like I said there is little room for difference and all that Mehmetcik 1 they have said is different is the materials I have actually found something else but I will reveal that on a latter date when I have time it is important.

Turkish special Forces DO NOT i repeat DO NOT use the STEYR AUG, there has been an image floating around with a turkish soldier carrying an aug, but in fact it was taken in Pakistan in co-training with Turkish army.

The only bullpup configured rifles the Turkish special forces use is the TAVOR and the CheyTac Intervention M200 sniper rifle.

Yeap you are right they do use Tavor, which I say is much more advanced then the Steyr Aug anyway, both are very capable though.

The sniper variant of the SIG-550 is used by some police forces, and that's about it.

Never seen that, all I see is Draganov, and Steyr SSG, various G3 based HK's that is about it. But yeah I would not be shocked if they do use them.

Well, along with protection comes with disadvantages, like loss of mobility and more weight meaning more strain on our soldiers. But when defending outposts and what not it could help. I asked various people and they said Turkey uses vests, and there are pictures overall they are not common.
