what makes you think that it is german made?if you look closer you can see that there stands MKE on the rifle, guess it´s one of the prototypes when shown on TV,that guy holding it, is one of the participant of that presentation.
You are right then what some one told me is wrong the same person told me that MKE stole the design from HK and HK was filing a lawsuit, but I just read the HK helped them design it, from an HK website an old article! 9, 000 of them where built by MKE and tested on the field and it was greatly liked!

could you give us the link for your source,i would really appreciate that...
9000 rifles?sry to tell you that, but i still can´t believe that, because to build that number and no pictures of it in use:confused:
perhaps 90 is a more realistic figure.
don´t get me wrong, but to build 9000 rifles is not an easy task, that is no prototypes/preproduction type of number, that number is just:rolleyes:
that is just my 2 cents

I heard it from 2 sources, I will try to dig them up, also remember that Turkey has to buy 1 million in 2 years and 9 000 is just a fraction. As for the pictures of the Troops using them I have seen those as well but I am searching for that as well I saw it on a website a few days ago it could be the M4 copy that Sarsilmaz makes so I could be wrong just a heads up.

1 million in 2 years is what they need, but building is just:D
i don´t think that MKE can build over 1000 rifles per day,not today and not in the future.don´t get me wrong plz,up today there is no info on trmilitary.com or any other source that the M-1 has been fielded and tested and there was no word about the 9000 rifles beeing tested/produced,not in that forum and not in any other media form i know, this is why i am so interested in your source.
kusura bakma:)

1 000 000 in 2 years is what the defense minister said is what is going to happen and I am still searching for the 9000 figure throught Turkish media files, they said that it was being used by the special forces and most photo's I have seen have M4 seque rifles which may be M4 may not. And 1 000 000 in 2 years is not bad colt had to build about the same amount of M4 is 2 years as well in the 80's but couldn't because of a labor strike so the order went to FN USA.

Atilla [TR], stop making stuff up.
Well that is a harsh acquisitions I am not making this stuff up. Search Colts history, quality of the M16 (&M4) went down during the late 80's so the U.S army took the contract from colt and gave it to FN, (FN makes 70% of the U.S army firearms arsenal)! and if you help and search the Turkish media files and come up with the 9000 Mehmetcik 1's figure goo ahead. Infact I remember where i got the 9 000 figure, it was the Hkpro website (website with HK enthusiasts).

I heard this figure from both the wikipedia page and HK pro website. 2 sources
HK pro is not an OFFICIAL website, just like wikipedia.

The Unofficial Website for HK PRO said:
01.15.2008: TURKEY HAS ADOPTED THE HK416 AND AG416 AS NEW SERVICE RIFLE, REPLACING AGING G3. QUANTITIES NOT REVEALED AS OF YET. SIGNIFICANT PURCHASE FOR HK. NO WORD EITHER ON WHETHER TURKISH PRODUCTION FACILITY TO BE SET UP OR IF ENTIRE ORDER FULFILLED FROM OBERNDORF.
The above info is also incorrect.

Dont ruin the threads.

The same thing at this link, as quoted below, applies in this post too:
http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7495&page=3

it would suck if they didnt chose that designe i mean it will
Yasin why will the new Turkish mbt named Altay, that we are yet to see, thats undergoing and many of us dont have extreme details of its technology, capability and even what it looks like "suck" if the private concept you are referring to shown in this thread as an example was not to be the Altay?

What do you know of the developments of the Altay Tank?

What do you know of the multitude of the design concepts we see in the Turkish media including the one shown here?

How do you compare what you know and claim that it will "suck"?

Instead of posting coments just to post a comment and raising your post count pls contribue with your intellectual assest.

I'm sure its not just me as a Turk getting annoyed with such non-sensical postings but anyone and everyone that clicks on a thread to read/learn/get an insight into something they are interested in.

I dont mean to be rude, and I apoligize if reading this is a bit harsh, but this is for all of us, pls lets all pay some attention to this.

(im sorry i guess im grumpy today)

Cheers.

Yeah Turkey would have a reason not to choose the HK 33 G3 rifle I mean I heard some bad things about them not the make but the reliability accuracy was there though. This new rifle uses a gas piston system which is much different then the conventional Ar15 which makes this rifle more reliable and better against the elements controlling heat everything. Watch this video and you willunderstand. Not the same weapons system but works on the same system.[ame="http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=N03LVJgUWdU"]http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=N03LVJgUWdU[/ame]

yeah well why dont they just use the same materials as the Hk417 (mehmecik 1) then it will be just as good
Because the materials MKE is using is better for Turkey better against the elements and heat, plus it is much much easier to use the materials Turkey is using for a certain way that the MKE is building it (heat injection in molding) it is much easier and faster. INter Allia is very good.

They may look the same completely different rifles. HK 33 G3 uses a roller locker system which in the long run has shown really successful, but the future is with the Gas Piston system like the LWRC , HK 416, and the MKE Mehmetcik 1( LWRC who came up with it for the AR15 style rifle HK steals a lot of the credit).

Not a big fan of telescopic buts
Why not. When different people of different heights use the rifle they need different lengths for the butt stock and buying 4 different butt stocks for one gun is going to cost money. Another thing that does not apply to the mehmetcik 1 but does to the M16 A2 that the U.S Army is getting rid of is that the length of the barrel and the long butt stock are horrible getting in and out of vehicles also clearing rooms, having a an Adjustable butt stock lets you make the gun "shorter" to get in and out of rooms easier.
