Just wonder. What do you all think of World in Conflict?
IMOA the game is very addictive and the team playing is so complex, yet very simple! One time you can own the battlefield the next you don't score much at all. And thats just how a game should be! You simply can't be "the best" in World in Conflict cause it all depends on so many things. And I have only played the demo for a month! And I haven't tried to play this game coordinated with other people because I haven't found them. :(
The actual game hits the mailbox any day now!

I think its ok , but its not as realistic as it could be and it also does not put you in a position to control the whole battlefield make it a batallion or whatever , it lacks many feautures to make it a great game I thought it will be , but then again they cannot satisfy all our needs , personaly Im disapointed.

Unrealistic because there are no supply lines , the vehicles don't use fuel , and the worse thing you can't control more than like 4-5 units , either helicopters , or tanks or whatever , If you could at least control a battalion , or even company it would be much better , this way you kinda don't control the battle at all

You want to have this kind of realism AND control a company or even a battalion?

You would never be able to handle your units.

One always needs to find a compromise between realism, number of playable units and speed of the gameplay.

WiC was never intended to be a simulation, not at all.

True. Should be delivered tomorrow, yay!
And XaNDeR, how can you be that disappointed? They said more than a year ago it wouldn't be a "Total War"-game, but instead they wanted you to feel like you're just a small part in a huge machinery. How can you be disappointed when they said that so long ago?

Thats true , but I would rather have control over more units at the least

I wait till I have the game in my hands and played it for a while (But first I need to buy my new Notebook ;) ).

The reports about WiC I have read so far look like one is busy enough to control the units one has, to communicate with the teammates and to control the special weapons.

Did you play the Demo-version?
There is a setting called "few player mode". That setting allow you to have access to everything and instead of the 4000 points you get in a normal game you now have 16000 points. If you haven't tried this mode, please do. ;)
I'll tell you... it gets very messy!

Hmm... I got a "10 day trail edition" of the game. Complete with key and a nice little cover. It gives you a chance to try the full multiplayer free for 10 days!
Nothing illegal here! It even say on the cover you should give it to a friend. ;)

I fear I am not able to try the game like I want with my current notebook.
I am not even close to the minimum requirements with my 3 years old notebook. ;)

So I just wait 1 or 2 month till I buy a new one and then I try the demo.
Better late than never... :)

i just bought the full version and i love it. Single player's ok but the whole thing comes alive online! Its allmost a cross between a BF2 and company of heroes. Different tactics for everydifferent type of unit, heaps of off map support like FAE bombs, tacticle nukes (which look awesome) 155mm arty strikes. Its great fun and i highly recomend it to anyone who likes playing online.

Hey guys,

Just wondering if there are any PC games around that you can gain promotion in, and kind of work your way up in military ranks?

Thanks in advance.

Quite a few. First person shooters, mainly. I'll outline two.

On a server-visit only basis, (once you leave you lose your promotions) you can't beat Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. It's a load of fun, and although it isn't entirely realistic, it's definitely a teamwork based game. Best of all it is totally free. On the downside, it's an old game, there are only a handful of maps, and server support will slowly die as new games come in.

Battlefield 2 is an awesome fun game, and I can't get enough of it. It may start to seem a looooong time between promotions - However there is an extensive ribbon/medal/badge system you can work at. Downsides: If you aren't good at these games, you'll have a lot of trouble finding your feet due to some of the snappy shooters out there. You'll also get frustrated by the folks who get in planes and dominate the map. Pointless trying to learn how to fly in the game unless you have literally hours per day to practice at first.
