I got it (together with my new notebook) for three days now.

Great fun online and cooperation on most public servers works surprisingly good.
And hey, they have a lot of Bundeswehr vehicles. I think this is the first time apart from Steel Beasts and some mods for other games. ;)

I just had a first look at the single player campaign but it also looks very nice.

Damn it that I have a test next friday.
I should learn and not play games...

I bet so.
At least you cannot play the Sovjets in the single player campaign... ;)

This really cries "add-on"!

Steel Beasts now that was a true tank sim(baring the graphics). Anyone here ever play Falcon 4.0 online? That was my best online gaming experience.

Yes, it certainly does!

There's a picture in the campaign which shows the Soviet progress in Europe after "several weeks/months of war". Sweden is showing on that picture and guess what; the Soviet gains on Sweden looks awfully small.
Really, really want an add-on concerning this or atleast a mod. :D
S-tank, Viggen, Draken, ifk 91 "Järven" (wolverine), Pbv 302, Bkan 1 among others! :love

S-tank?
As what? There are no tanks without turrets in the game.
But you are right, the rest would be nice.
I would like to see some planes with the three crowns on their wings. :)

I've played World In Conflict either. but i was baffled when my Bradley launched TOW missile simply turn around and reattack the target after it missed. Never realized TOW can do that.

Just like the bug with AA missiles. When they are on their way to a target and this target suddenly dissapears (Due to LOS being interrupted) the missile is going to fly circles for some time but in the end it is hitting the target anyway just later... :D

hi, my first post in here, its a nice forum :)

have´t read all the posts but i think the best wargame by far is Hearts of Iron Doomsday. You start the game in 1936, u can chose almost any country in the world, then u build up your industry, infrastructure, supply stock and more. You dont have to enter ww2, even as germany you have a chance to skip it, but the common dislike, which reduse your industri production. Its a very complex game. You have different generals that have different abilities and you can also add brigades on your divisions, in the newest version (armageddon) you can also upgade your ships with larger guns and bigger armor. you can play until 1952, you also have a tech tree where you can develop new tank, ship better infantary, after a while also nukes. The multiplayer version is well balanced, if you play historical. You only have to set up a couple of rules, that us aint allowed to join a war before 1941. Becasue if the usa joins before they will end upp with destroying germany and russia after a while.

the game takes long time to play, about 180h for one "round" but its worth it.. try it out´, its the game for all the ppl that think that to logistics and supplys etc are as importent as the fighting :)

over and out

I will have to keep an eye out for that game as it sounds like the sort of strategy game I love. Though 180hrs for a game is a heck of a long time reminds me a lot of the "one more turn" mentality of the Civilization games where time no longer mattered and all you cared about was capturing the last city of an enemy player.

You can play it faster.
There is an option which allows for choosing how fast the game runs.
This is very usefull with the awfull slow movement of units in the russian landscape behind Moscow... ;)

well who the heck plays russia, they are good in the long run thu.. but nothing can stop the might of the german armor, after landing in Leningrad and blitz down south and surround the russians defending the river gap at minsk, and then heading towards mosckow.

Ofc you can speed it up, but the will even out cause when you attack along ex. the russian border, you have about 300-400 divisions, and some 200 div of air units, that takes some time to cordinate, also fixing trade routes as the USA / UK.

If you gonna play, dont be affraid to increase the AI to a hard or even higher, because if you go with normal, its just to easy. And you have to use your political skills, to prevent wars, and to create a alliance. Its proberly the best game out there if you like strategy, try it out asap and tell me if you liked it or not

When i first started playing world in conflict, i was very impressed, great graphics, a huge battle area, but i think there are some aspects which could have be done better

i dont like the reinforcement concept, if you tanks and stuff gets destroyed you can simply get some more.

Also the idea of health points isnt realistic, i much prefer the soldiers heroes of ww2 style, where tanks either survive being hit or get damaged/destroyed

A cross between world in conflict and soldiers heroes of ww2, now that would be an awesome game!

I have been addicted to that game for two years now :D . But I have to say playing Germany, Soviet Union, USA or even UK is far too easy, even at max AI aggression and difficulty. For better fun, try some minors, like Brazil, Canada or Italy.

Now I know it's not strategy based but Call of Duty 4 is by far the best first person shooter ever to debut on any platform. The mix of modern weapons, tactics, intelligent enemies, and amazing details in the levels is mind blowing. Online this game is untouchable, I can not take my eyes off it when I get home from work.

The original Silent Heroes ( amod for Battlefield 1942 featuring a hypotheticak Swedish-norweigan war) was quite excellent. What i especially liked about it was that you acutally had a realistic aim and hit propability and that the game was balanced. You didnt have to be on a particular side to be sure to win.

And as you get more and more injured the view gets darker and darker. That is a really nice feature. :D
