Brunei Corvettes

Afghanistan & British naval deployment in the Gulf are not necessarily linked - though Iraq is.

BAe isn't selling them. Brunei has taken them away from BAe & hired Lurssen to sell them. Since Brunei has paid full price, Brunei will try to get as much as possible for them.

When I read Lurssen it reminds me that Nigeria needs desperately ships to replace the old FACs and 60s vintage corvettes...

The money would come from oil & natural gas. The crews exist mostly on paper, though they would require retraining (potentially in the UK). A country with over a hundred million inhabitants and a long coastline filled with oil should be able to afford both investment and qualified manpower for at least half a dozen oceangoing vessels (the aradu, the 3 brunei corvettes, and at least a couple of big OPVH)

Yes, but it's far more enjoyable spending the money on mansions in several countries, highly skilled entertainers (remember the rumours about how Abacha died ), jewellery, haute couture, Rolls-Royces, etc. Why change long-established customs?

Right - then if I were in the nigerian navy I would try to persuade the government that the brunei corvettes are excellent yachts for pleasure cruises

If that's how you see them being used, they could use them for wake boarding, or water ski-ing, as they cruise along at the best part of 30 kts.

2. Both TNI-AL and RMN were not practising gun boat diplomacy during Ambalat. TNI-AL deployed at least one of their capital ships there. RMN were unable to deploy their capital ships there. why? the answer is the same as the answer for question no. 1.

well DW 73......hv u been onboard RMN vessel during that crisis..???........idont know about u, but i do.......im onboard one of the main strike asset during that time of crisis......n i can tell u that main strike asset are there and ready to defend the block at any time......location wise is classified....

A 76mm main gun and a 30mm secondary. FFBNW triple torpedo tubes, 4x MM-40 Exocet and RAM. The RAM is only speculation though since there has never been any confirmation.
