Oh! This is so recognisable! I remember those days playing CIV2 with great pleasure. I was studying at univ at the time, which made it possible for me to make a mess out of my sleeping pattern playing that great game. And in retrospect I can certainly see that it drove my girlfriend at the time absolutely insane... at the time...:D

Aaaaah! Now where can my copy be hiding...

How good is the total war series?? i have to say it is by far my favoite stratagy series. i'm still playing Rome, I think i like it more than medieval II even though its 3+ years old. Anyone out there who hasn't tried it get on it!
I haven't played Medieval 2 yet, still playing Rome. Right now I'm playing the Zhangguo mod for RTW.

Dam rome total war is so cool.... I am dreaming to own mw 2 but it wouldn't run on my petty AMD 2800+ and 512 ddr 1.... lol.. but thats another story...Well my friend bought RTW and he didn't like it so i tried thinking it would be like another RTS game but well I was too pleased.... I wished if it had some economic management other than military it would be awesome... FIrst thing i would do it to conqured all the wonders... that... mostly being a roman.. but thats tough but well i always do it... Now am dreaming for a more powerful machine to run better games.. but that would not happen in another 6 to 8 months... Aw such a long time....
regards....

(still playing oFp CWC... doing my own missions.. that what i like about OFP... russians invading Evron from the southern tip wit massive armour and machanise units with Mi24s giving CAS.......the allies defending the island with lesser units but more cobras and apaches and thunderbolts.... armours and AT infantries at choke points.... its awesome..)

ive got to say that im in the depths of addiction to rainbow 6 vegas at the moment and particularly the onlinr multiplayer area which really does test your skills with the commando 552 and psg-1!

as you progress through the game your rank increases similarly to your rankings on thses forums allowing you to utilise more advanced and powerful weaponry...

id recommend this on the playstation 3 but ive got ghost recon advanced warfighter on the way next week too....i hope it doesnt cost me a divorce!!

As someone had mentioned World In Conflict, which had gone gold, I also heartily recommend Massive Entertainment's previous efforts, the Ground Control series.

Ground Control is basically an RTS, but it removes the research trees and in demand factory schemes typical of classic RTS defined by Blizzard and EA games. Rather, you are given a fixed set of units, with a limited number of reinforcements, and attain your objectives with that. The result is that you focus mainly on tactical play. At a time when most RTS games were using vorlex animations, Ground Control, as well as another famous Sierra title named Homeworld, were leading the way in the use of 3D environs. Ground Control is followed by an expansion, and later by Ground Control 2.

Homeworld as well as its add-on and Homeworld 2 were great games.

Homeworld 2 is still a game which I play frequently and in terms of easy access it is still the No1.
If I compare modern Star Wars game sto it (Empire at War)...

Okay I just tried Armed Assault, but can't find the same feeling I had with Operation Flashpoint. It's damn near impossible to aim (don't know if its the game or the computer) and the overall graphics has a blurry look giving me a headache. I think I'm sticking to OPF2 when it gets released.

I am looking forward to these games.

World in Conflict (next month)

Universe at War (October; published by SEGA, done by the guys who did Empire at War)

Supreme Commander expansion (November)

Star Craft II (next year)

Going to play C&C Tiberium Wars.

By the way, I placed a deposit on WiC, and for that, they give you a bonus DVD. The DVD is from History Channel's Modern Marvels, telling the history of the US Strategic Air Command. Not bad for five bucks, a Modern Marvel's DVD would generally cost you like twenty bucks.

I think aiming in Armed Assault it probably harder than aiming in real life.

watched a promo on network gaming for WIC, pro's against designers, looked amazing.
My only worry is it will be to processer/memory intensive to run smoothly on my machine.

Well already I noticed alot of historical inaccuracies for the game. First of all the shilka's would be supplemented by the 2S6 Tunguska , the SS-23 Oka should be the main front line TRK and the list just goes on.

I suspect the main character has Alzeimers in Armed Assault. You can never point your crosshair to where you want it to go, and before you know it, you've been kiled before you finished aiming. They completely gay'ed up the aiming system from Operation Flashpoint.

I was in both closed and open betas, tell me your computer specs and I hopefully tell you if it's possible to play. I mean, the graphics coding in WiC is simply amazing!
For example, I can play the game a little tidy bit above lowest (on 1280x1024) on this computer basically without lag: AMD 64 3000+, 1gig PC3200 RAM, GeForce 6600GT, and my OS system is on a 20-gigabyte hard drive from the 90's (although I did format it last year). It's a pretty crappy computer, simply.

I found that only with the AK's, with the M4 or the snipers it was pretty OK.
Really tough game though, gave up on it in the end, you walk/drive for ages, and are then killed without warning! no fair!

I'm totally, incurably addicted to the Falcon 4.0 series. Managed to ruin pizzas or pastas(family expert in both) for family dinner umpteen no of times by putting them in the oven and then scrambling up to my room to crater just one more runway. This game has made me run late to office(forget breakfast I wanna shoot down that bloody A-50), late for family weddings and dinners even late for my best female friend's wedding. Addiction to Falcon 4.0 is worse than that to any strategy game. As far as FPS go, I find online counterstrike(any version) to be the most challenging.
