Whats unrealistic about it in your point of view. I do agree that some things are not right.
Many things!? Preferably that the ground units can move trough the water? The economy is on a unrealistic scale , its pretty easy to make urself rich .. The battle is also far from tactical , you only sit and watch , and have a option of few attacks ( air superiority ..etc. )

You are right about the ground units. And you are very very right about the economy. Anyone can become rich. You can also implement 100% income tax which is unfair and ridiculos.

I loved Falcon 4 dispite all the bugs (back in 1998). I'm on none-intel macs so no chance to get the 2005 update Allied Force. But if I manage to get together an extra $700 in the next couple months I'm planning to purchase a Windows based PC and a saitek X-45 set of joystick throttle.

Before that I loved the Janes combat games of the late 1990's. I bought the navy pack and would love to an updated Fleet Command style game. I know of a group that's working on something like that in Opensource land, but again it's for Windows only.

I also loved the early pre-Ubi soft Tom Clancy games. (Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon 1 & expansions). They were fun to play co-op as mission planning and tactics were a part of the game, yet they were still fun games. Now Ubi has turn them into arcadish shoot 'em ups like every other FPS out there.

Granted I grew up in the golden age of Microprose with F-15 Strike eagle, F-19 (later F-117 when we learned what it really looked like), as well as the Falcon series. Mainly I want to see what falcon 4 is like with the working dynamic campaign engine. The outcome of the battle is determined by what strikes you choose and how well you fly your missions, etc..

On the flip side of things I always loved the space sim games Xwing Vs. Tie Fighter, Freespace, Wing Commander, etc..

Sadly nobody is producing the games I like to play anymore save from projects like the Freespace Code group and the Freefalcon folks. At least Freespace 2 works on OSX now.

6. Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

Webbie, they're some nice specs, that 8800GTS will eat any game out there in high quality without any trouble. I'm running a 7600 and i havent had any problems. if you like playing online battlefield 2 is the best 1st person shooter IMO. The way the game is built, the way it looks, the weapons used and whole teamwork aspect. Definatly worth a look. If you just wanna play by yourself all of the call of duty series are great especially if your into WW2.

For stratagy it depends what your into. If you like Anchient warfare then the total way series are great. I still play rome and love it. If your after World War 2 stuff Company of Heroes is a good one, it is on the platoon/squad level. For a world wide geopolitical sim you cant go past superpower 2, if you wanna know everything about any nation, design your own units and take over the world, this ones for you. Act of War is good fun but it would be a total waste of a system like that to run a 2 year old game on it. I guess it all depends what your personal tastes are.

On annother note i'm after a decent modern air combat sim. Has to be newish. Anyone seen any?????
Over-G for the 360 seems to blow. I still recommend the latest expanded vesions of Lock On Modern Air Combat. There has been considerable revisions since its release, tidying up the flight characteristics and AIs, and constantly adjusting the planes once new information is discovered. The leak of a real Su-27SK manual which appeared in the web certainly made a difference for this game. They have also new planes for the flyables, and the latest addition appears to be a helicopter, the Hokum.

Think of it as an Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29, Su-25 plus F-15 simulator. Its a great way to settle the F-15 vs. Su-27 vs. MiG-29 debate online. Used to be that is, not too many people play online now, if ever.

Pre-Ubisoft Tom Clancy games I still have an old game called Force 17, by Clancy's own company, Red Storm Entertainment. Basically its an interesting tactical kind of game featuring NATO and the PLA, and you can play both sides in two separate campaigns. Force 17 represents some kind of special forces that are used to simulate enemy forces and develop tactics. Since the game is pre-2000, so the PLA side is badly outdated in terms of what we know now. Suffice to say the game didn't prove much of a challenge since all you do is bombard the enemy with artillery then move in and mop up the pieces.

For real time strategy games I used to play the Earth 2150 series, the latest edition being called Earth 2160. Warfare is basically conventional. The Sino-Russian axis is reborn into some great Khanate that basically uses conventional weapons. North America and Europe are now combined into a faction called the UCS. The UCS is so casualty adverse and yet so advanced that their entire army is completely mechanized and I mean walking mechs. They fight their wars through remote control and watch their battles in TV CNN style. The third faction comes from colonists in the Moon.

For FPS, try GRAW or Rainbow Six Vegas. For strategy, try Medieval 2 Total War.

Addictive is not the word.

I think every Civ player has a story of playing Civilization and a lost girlfriend!! Sid Meier has a lot to answer for... And lets not mention Championship Manager.

I remember playing civ 2 in london, I left the sink running to do the washing up, it was a big sink, and would take a minute or two, so I nipped back into the bedroom to finish my turn....20 minutes later I realised that the sink was still running! I'd flooded the kitchen and Hall, we were a second floor flat and I'd managed flood the kitchen in the flat downstairs too. If the splashing noises from the kitchen had'ent gotten so loud I could have left it run for hours.
I claimed that a water pipe had burst under the sink when my girlfriend returned from work. It was that or tell her the shameful truth.

That was the last time I played, 5 years ago, but they say an alchoholic is never really cured.... ;)
