I think with the DM63 Rheinmetall tries to make the L/55 more usefull for countrys with more extreme climatic conditions and many oversea missions.
For germany the DM53 is enough. We have no A4s in active service and our climate is also very moderate.

Waylander a quick question if you don't mind, (Save me reading back) without having to read over a whole bunch of threads, about how many Leo 2's does Germany have available for sale from Warstocks and arm reductions?

Both Greece and Turkey seem to be modernizing their fleets, any decision by Turkey as to where these new units will be based, Western Turkey or near Iraq?

Our Turkish posters will have to confirm this, but as far as I've heard, The Leos will equip the units in western Turkey, near the Greek border, while the military regions facing Syria and Iraq will be upgraded with the cheaper Sabra M60. Given the look of Syrian and Iranian tank forces these days, Leopard-2A4s (possibly with local upgrades) would simply be overkill against them, and rolling waves of armour isn't the main threat around there.

You are correct PlasmaKrab, Leopard 2A4 tanks will equip units in Thrace (Northwestern Turkey), while upgraded M-60A1 Sabra's will go to south-southeastern Turkey.

There are no real infos about the zulfiquar, so who knews...
They pretty much have used the technology from M60`s and T-72`s and placed it on one vehicle, 125 mm Russian gun, spaced armor, advanced computer fire control. They started manufacturing around 1998.

That would be great. :)
Everything I found out in the past are the same vague infos and two or three photos.

Nice infos but this is still very vague. :(
This is what I have come up with so far.

125mm 2A46m Russian Gun
Slovenia Fontana EFCS-3 computerized fire control system for better stabalization, day and night image intesifying sighting system, laser warning system mounted on top of turret.
Same Auto loader as on T -72.
All new welded turret shaped like M1 series tank with same armor protection level found on T-72B2, which should be realistic due to a vehicle weight of around 40 tons.
Estimated top end for speed is around 65 kilometers per hour.

Sounds like it would give the Sabra a run for it's money. I wonder if they should put the Leos on that border. Greece can only hit the Istanbul area without a MAJOR amphib op.
