Like DavidDCM has said, the new Turkish mbt will be either a major copy of the Korean K2BP with some domestic (Turkish) modifications or a mostly new machine with best capabilities of M1, Leo and K2BP combined and supplemented with technology that provides the performance the Turkish army needs into a new platform. The latter is seen more probable with the evidence at hand.
Considering that the life span of platforms of the latest M1, Leo or T Series tanks is expected to go for at least another 10 years without a major design overhaul, I hardly doubt the new Turkish indigenous tank when it rolls out into operation will be considered to have a "drawback due to old design" like eliaslar is claiming, infact i suspect that the new indigenous Turkish mbt will be one of the best 3rd generation platforms existing in its time.
Besides considering that the Turkish military and industry has already gained a considerable experience in overhauling and life extention works it has done on the existing m48s,m60s and leos, the further experience been gained from the current Turkish mbt project will only provide further capabilities to the Turkish military industry/technology to keep upto date the the new Turkish mbt.
Unless some one starts to manufacture a working high performance bi-pedal StarWars kind of sci-fi platform the new Turkish mbt is set to be one of the best operational tanks in existance.
Cheers.
