Hi I am Scott. I've been a reader on the site for quite awhile I just never registered. Finally decided to so I can post/open links and whatnot. I work for the US Marine Forces Reserves in New Orleans which is ironically also where I am from. Had previous defence jobs take me around the country just to land me back where I started.

I have always been interested in defence technologies and this has been one of the best places I can sit down and have a good read.

Hello.

I'm new here and have been reading some "entertaining" posts..

I served in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Armoured Crewman and was assigned to the Armoured Recce Sqd....prior to enlisting to the Reg Forces I was an active reservist and served in a light Infantry regiment.

My qualifications ranged from Infantry, machine gunner, anti armour and mortarman ( I was a bit of a qualifications hound) and then to Armoured Crewman, armoured driver, Crew Commander and Recce.

I was active during the "phase out" of the C1A1 ( FN ) series to the Colt Canada C7 series and used Both...I have a "few" personal opinions on that change over...lol

Cheers and hope to find some other international Ex service people to discuss practical experiences with......:)

Hi everyone
I've posted a few comments over the past few days. It looks like an interesting place so I reckon I'll stick around.

I'm 44 years old, South African.
Although I have never served in the military due to physical disability, I have a lifelong interest in military matters, particularly technology and history - mostly related to South Africa and the rest of the continent.

Greetings

I am Australian, 55 years old and recently (March 2011) retired as a Business Analyst/Information Technology Officer in the Department of Defence.

I am a long time lurker on the site but finally decided to register so I could participate if I wanted to. I have probably been lurking on the order of 5 or 6 years.

I am interested in all aspects of the Australian military past, present and future but particularly the Navy. (Which is a little odd considering my father served in the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps for 20 years, including a tour of Vietnam and I had more to do with RAAF systems in my time working for Defence.)

I bring to the forum an interest in Defence which dates back 45 years and service in the Australian Public Service of almost 30 years.

I hope I can make some contributions.

Hello everyone.

I'm 30 years old and from Sweden. Always had an interest for security and defence policy and the military parts that come with that.

I have been in and out of the Swedish Armed Forces since 2002 and am currently back in the Army serving.

Looking forward to some interesting discussions.

Hello everyone, I'm Zach. I'm 18 years old and I live in Dallas, TX in the USA. I'm looking into joining the Navy Reserve after college and have been studying everything military since I was 8. I've read the Art of War, the whole "Jack Ryan Series" by Tom Clancy, and the "Endwar Series" by Tom Clancy. I've posted a few times on the CNN Security Clearance Blog and I decided to join this community after seeing some of the ineptitude and racism on those blogs. I hope I can make a good addition to this group of people and learn all I can.

Dear fellow enthusiast,analysts and moderators,
Warm greetings. Previously I was unaware of this forum, but some how I found it and became a regular reader of it.I was a member of a few other forums on the internet, but those were really biased and restricted freedom of speech and constructive criticism. After regular reading of this forum I realised it's one of the few forums that are unbiased, full of intellectually capable members and ensures users post links with their own comments instead of flamebaiting others. It is a forum where respect is held highly from what I've seen so far, and special priviledges are not given to users are all are treated equally and unbiased.
Also, especially on the issue middle eastern politics and european geopolitics which it is apparent that all users will have their own adgenda which they support. It seems this forum allows everyone to voice their opinion without it being called trolling, or it being taking as insultive, probably due to the great work of the administrators/moderators and you the users who all respond mutual, respectable and like adults.
I'm still young but I have an extreme liking for defence analysis and military history and tactics. However this career not is not available for me to pursue due to a number of reasons :cry2 and thus I hope to learn fromt the experts that are so readily identified . So Masters and Jedi, I hope you train me and acept me as your young padawan.
Yours Respectfully
Brandon, the live drop

G'day

:D
Good evening ladies and gentlemen I am a Australian currently residing Bunbury WA. I have worked in construction (Plastering e.g.), produced meat. But Ive been sick for a couple of years. Therefore am currently engaged in domestic warfare and parenting as I struggle through.
I was born in Newcastle NSW, but spent my formative years in chilly and sleepy Launceston TAS. Was a fairly reasonable;) Sportsman learning Sailing (Sabot, 470 class, JOG). Wasn't a bad runner as I traversed the hilly bits of TAS. Moved to WA in the late 80s for employment.
Spent quite a few years dry-walling, but out of necessity have adapted to the rules of modern life. These days the pace has slowed so electronic interactions, reading, walking the dog are favored events that keep the body and mind going. Always interested in learning but will fight my corner when I have to. So expect some hard questions:daz

So once again G'day.:finger
