RMAF Future; need opinions

One more thing i read is that, until SU-30MKI become operational, RMAF MIG-29N were the only Russian made fighters that can simultaneously engage multiple targets.
That's not true. about 2/3 of China's flankers (not including J-11B) can do so with R-77.

I don't know whether you've ingested a psychoactive substance, or if you have spells of incoherence without chemical assistance, but I suggest you try to ensure your posts contain either information, or meaningful comment, in future.

Give them more time and they can do as good if not better than the IAF. If you read comments in sgforum, they even thought the Su-30MKM was flown by Russian pilots during LIMA 2007 and couldn't believe that RMAF pilots could learn it so fast. I read somewhere that they have mastered about 70% of the aircraft capabilities right now.

The newspapers would always like to exaggerate. I dont belive the Russian pilot have witnessed something that he havent b4. Its just something written to make themselves to feel good.

Btw, is there any website with pics for the LIMA 2007?

nah..i doubt that is true..have u seen what the russian pilots can do with their sukhois with variants inferior to that of the MkM?try browsing through youtube and u might find them..maybe they were amazed by how fast our pilots learned to fly the flankers rather then what we did with them..

here is one of the websites that has public postings of the LIMA photos..posted some myself there..need to register thou..add www in front..i dont have 15 posts yet so i cant post the link..

and about where the flankers are based..they are all based in the brand new RMAF airbase in gong kedak,kelantan..was build even before the first MkMs arrived.. :)

the base is not exactly brand new, it was originally built by the British
what's new are the facilities for Su-30MKM operations
before this the base is used for parachute trainings

Regarding the RWR, its from Sauth Africa IIRC. There must be a reason as to why the Gov choose an african solution compared to a european or even russian ones. What are its capability of intercepting an AESA radar?

Also whats the update on the second batch of Flankers? Is there any indication as of when this will be?

Most of the google earth pages are years old. Also, I doubt you'll be able to see the Suks on commercial satellite photos even if not. The reasons for this are logical. Eg, try spotting the migs...

The Suks are based at Gong Kedak.

There should be 6 delivered by now. Another 12 will be delivered in 2 batches next year.

The RMAF are training 72 officers as pilots and WSOs which means 36 crews.
the extras?hmm, maybe the possibilities of another squadron?

about the google earth thing, cant spot any MiGs at the kuantan airbase either..there must have hidden it sumwhere..

Sometimes I can't understand RMAF purchasing. The SU 30MKM may perhaps be a fine aircraft, but if the service is to retain air superiority in region, it should either consider buying another large number of SU 30MKMs or just settle for F16s.

I am sure the Malaysians could purchase scores of F16s and its probably a better buy in terms of numbers rather than pursue the Russian option.

But otherwise I am not convinced. How would the SU 30MKM fair against other aircraft??
