Would you mind CD clarifying this line in your post - "All TF Infantry Bn will merge in Dec, 3/6, 5/7, & 2/4 under command of HQ TRADOC with a HQ in Auckland, Wellington & Ch-Ch"
Current plan is simple first a little background info this is what occured during the IMP (Impacted Military pers) process, the following Units lost the majority of there HQ people for example the following pers are all RF or TF on short term RF Contracts.
3 Auck Nth - RSM, 2 x Cadres NCOs,
6 Hauraki - CO, XO, Adjt, most of there Cadre NCO's but retained the RSM,
5WWCT - RSM, & 1 x Cadre NCO,
7 WnHB - CO, XO, RSM, and all the Cadre NCO,
2CNMWC - 1 x Cadre NCO,
4 O South - XO, RSM, Adjt,
Some pers were IMP/COMP while other will not be replaced when their current posting finishes in the December.
To ensure that they can carry on the TF Infantry Battalions have been forced to merge so as to use the available man power to continue to train for individual BLOC trg and section trg to DLOC. All Platoon/ Company level will be as a formed Reserve Coy as part of a RF Battalion on exercise complete with all the equipment currently held by those Units.
It could be read a couple of ways. Are you suggesting that for example 3 and 6 Batt are going to merge.
No suggesting about it at all Mr C its happening as of 12 Dec this year, from here the reserves are conducting an full analysis to determine the best CoA for the TF Infantry, thats why they are the only TF units that will partially embed into the 3 RF mnvr units for now. Govt has made it quite clear there will be no extra funding for the next 5 years for NZDF. Reserves are now a intergral part but they came close and I mean very close to being consigned to history, as an ex Cadre I have been on both sides of the fence and seen the politics that TF higher Command have played in the past, well with a stroke of a pen the Government have fundamentally altered the landscape for both RF & Reserves.
The great thing about the changes is that finally Infantry Reserve Units have an Operational (Kinetic) role to plan, train, & deploy with there RF Battalion utilizing all the equipment both tac radios, NVE, weapon systems & mobility asserts
