My name is Blair i live in England but i also reside in Murmansk some times along side my stepfather, he used to live in st petersburg but recently moved to Murmansk to be closer to his friends.

My stepfather was a merchant marine sailor and worked on board many ships including many Soviet ones.

I myself am currently training to become an officer with the British merchant navy with the long term hope of becoming a commanding officer which i know i can achive.

At the moment i am at college studying i have served onboard ships as active crew most notibly M.V Dart 8 a 22,000 tonne roll on roll off frieghter ferry traveling from Dartford in kent to Zeebrugge in Belgium.

I have spent a great deal of time reasearching the Russian navy main area is submarines, ive spent the last 4 and a half years researching the Kursk and im now bringing that to a close.

That is about me

Intro

Hello-

I am from southern United States. I have a bit of military history in my family. My grandfather was in the US Navy during WWII, and my father was in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

I think that this site's picture gallery is great, and my hat's off to those who put it together.

I do get busy with my work, but I will drop in the forums here from time to time and post some ideas. I will keep my comments respectable, and will probably post more later once I get the feel of how everyone is and what is ok and what is not.

:)

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and joined out of personal interest in defence news. It seems like there is a wealth of collective knowledge here. I'm here to understand current events better. I live in Northern Virginia.

Apologies for diving into some of the forums without doing this first. I have served in the RN (a long time ago) and as you may guess I have a particular interest in aviation.

I flew gliders for a number of years and have some experience in other aircraft. What impresses me about this forum is not just the knowledge but the international aspect with members in a number of countries.
