Re: Member intros- everyone reply here
Hi everyone, my name is Brian, another newbie here, from Auckland, New Zealand. A special hi to fellow kiwi's, nzbm, nz enthusiast, and no doubt others I will see.
I am 48, not involved in defence related matters, but would love to be the Minister of Defence lol. I have read everything I could find on military related matters since my early teens, thank God for the internet.
I wanted to join the AF but failed due to eyesight, thought about the navy but unimpressed by the obsolete equipment so never persued it. I have a special fascination for submarines, in fact designed a SSN when I was about 9, dad was so impressed he took it to work to show everyone he had a smart son lol, the inspiration came from a cutaway of the new "Ship Submerged Nuclear SSN Fleet Submarine HMS Dreadnought" back in 1963 in a boys magazine, Eagle I think.
I'm inclined to ramble on a bit, so gently let me know when I do lol. One of the things I hate about forums in general is the flames when someone makes a mistake, or displays a lack of knowledge, or are not fleunt in english, this forum does seem clean in that respect, I know there are always going to be some heated debate when you have members who are from countries that in public are not on good terms though.
Oh, a belated hi to the members from the wee country next door across the ditch. If you are throwing away your F18's, aim them this way please, the new National government come september would be grateful.
