Thank you, interesting upgrade. Do you have a estimate, even a ball park figure on what the upgrade costs pakistan, how many are they looking at upgrading.
I am not sure about cost figures other then the fact that Sri Lanka was offerred 25 Al Zarrar tanks for $40 milion. This comes up to $1.6 million each.

I will reply you soon on the other points as soon as I get the facts.

im not sure that it can be true coz the cost of upgrading the tank with ERA and new FCS and other things could be more i guess........not to mention the spare parts and other stuff.

but if its true then its superb. it is a perfect package for a poor country like sri lanka.....a perfectly potent tank at a reasonable price. it is more than enough for sri lankas current defence needs.

The original Type 59 had a 100 mm rifled gun. That thing on the Al Zarrar definitely looks like a soviet-style 125 mm smoothbore.

no dude

it has the same 105 mm gun as the original t-59 tank. only the armour and FCS are upgraded.
Dude? - :eek:nfloorl:

Kay_man - this is a Norinco upgrade for Pakistan that is sporting a 125mm, the last time Pakistan had a L7A3 equipped T-59 was when the UK provided this upgrade back around the year 1987 and sent three of them to Pakistan for evaluations in which Pakistan showed no interest in purchasing. China is also providing their own upgrade program as referenced by Kato.
