According to Jane's this Frigate 4000 is being prepare for Thai follow on order. Thai Navy building program somewhat lag behind the neighbours. Even Philippines now already have four new Light Frigate from ROK.

Some naval news from North Europe.
The Royal Danish Navy (Søværnet) has 5 large frigates in its fleet, and it plans to replace them with 6 new frigates in the coming years.
The shipyards which built the last frigates, Svendborg Skibsværft and Odense Staalskibsværft, do not exist anymore, but still Denmark plans to build the new frigates as much as possible in Denmark.

Manning-wise relative to population the PLAN is only half the size that Navies in e.g. Commonwealth countries typically are (one quarter compared to the USA). Meaning they have a significantly larger recruitment pool and proportionally to industry/business recruitment less competition.

The Danish Chief of Defence has recommended to abandon the ongoing repair and planned upgrade of the Danish Navy's Iver Huitfeldt-class air defence frigates.

The Danish defense ministry seems still don't manage to sort out whats the problem on Missiles systems softwares. This seems put them on problematic investment calculation to pursue systems upgrade. Thus choices to downgrade Iver Class from AAW dedicated Frigates to Patrol Frigates.

UK, Polish and Indonesian Arrowhead 140 base Frigates are all base from Iver class. I don't know if Danish situation reflect on their Frigates progress. I suspect should be minimal as they opted to different missiles systems. However still interesting to follow.

Iver Huitfeldt class uses the Danish Terma C-Flex combat management system. It's also used by some other Danish navy ships, & ships in other countries, but I think they haven't had the same problems, perhaps because they don't use the elements which failed. The problems seem to be specific to C-Flex Combat. Other C-Flex users have C-Flex Patrol, AFAIK. According to Terma, C-Flex is modular, & I imagine that the frigates have additional modules, & the problem may be in them - or one of them, or an interface.

Arrowhead 140 frigates don't use C-Flex. Type 31 & the Polish frigates have the Thales Nederland Tacticos CMS, which is in many ships, in many navies. Reports online say that the Indonesian frigates have the Turkish Havelsan ADVENT CMS . Chile's just signed a contract to fit it two old ex-Dutch Karel Doorman frigates, & it's in Pakistan's Turkish-designed Babur-class corvettes/light frigates.

Whether this is going to be taken or not by RN, but I think it can be attractive proposition to those Navies that now already building or in process to consider AH-140 Arrowhead designs. Babcock seems quite serious to consider this AH-160. This rendering that already circulating onlines seems shown Babcock leveraging existing Iver/AH-140 proven design.

Well then, the DPRK has relaunched their second destroyer.

Presumbly with the threats of going to prison or worst, the righting of the ship to be fair was stunning and in some cases, innovative, as analysts were saying that DPRK needed lift cranes which they don't have.

This is certainly a face saving gesture, but whether she would go on in service and effectively is another question that only time will tell.

Phumtham 'signed sub deal' before leaving post

Outgoing Defence Minister Phumtham Wechayachai confirmed he approved the long-delayed submarine procurement deal before stepping down, marking one of his final decisions in office.

The ongoing Thai Defense Minister claim he already sign agreement for finalizing S26T submarine for Thai Navy. He is now minister of interior, thus still in cabinet. However with current PM is in trouble politically, this is still in question whether the deal will be finalized by cabinet.

The Submarine it self already ready and using Chinese diesels instead German MTU. Basically it is similar set up that reported China do to their other Submarine export to Pakistan.
