mate it was a dogs breakfast. it was a shared security site with MSS and Wormald. I was the Sierra 1 for Wormald, we could only direct an MSS guard if we had the MSS Sierra 1 in tow or if he granted approval.

Split command doesn' t even work well with "pretend" security...:nutkick
No offence, but I HATE private security organisations... The only entry requirement seems to be an ability to withstand several large beatings around the head and ears with no discernable effect on the "beatee's" level of intelligence, whatsoever... :)

none taken. I worked it part time when I took LSL from the Feds every year. It helped pay off my house. ;)

I think you're probably being generous.

distressingly enough, the overall quality seems to have stayed the same over the last 20 years.

there was a standing joke about bank guards (which I'm sure is still probably relevant today)

did a little moonlighting with wormald when i first left the army in 95...my partners were nearly always the type that would be reading SOF mag, tell amazing "stories",and pump me for info about the army...they would have joined themselves but for one reason or another...the extra$$$ were handy at the time though! And i did work with a few good blokes, one ex kiwi SAS op,who was a great laugh on cold sydney nights.

More LANDEF 07 Information.

More information on the LANDEF 07 component of Avalon.
Defence Today is reporting that a vehicle mobility Demonstration track is being built upon which vehicles will be driven during the show.
They state that manufacturers who will have vehicles to be displayed and driven include:

Thales/ADI-Presumably Bushmaster, Copperhead and perhaps some
Oshkosh trucks.

Mack-Presumably the Renault range of Sherpa tactical vehicles. Would be
nice to see the Sherpa 2 and 3!

Mercedes Benz- Would not mind seeing the fully armoured body G Wagon.

Armour Holdings- Wonder what they might be bringing?

MAN trucks-They are known to be bringing their X range.

JCB-Don't know anything about them!

DESO-UK -They are the UK export organisation. Not sure why they are mentioned.

These and vehicles such as the Abrams and PzH-2000 will make for an interesting ground show.

Actually I would not mind seeing some examples of the M113AS4 as well, since they are supposed to finally start being delivered this year.

Does anyone know the times the fast jets will be flying on the public weekend days?

Usually they fly from midday onwards?

From past xperience, it pays not to turn your back after 10am. Things hapen very quickly, order gets shuffled, some jets sneak in before their scheduled show if they have flown in on the day from other airfields.

I was at Oshkosh last year and Chuck Yeager didn't sign anything, so don't get your hopes up. Just seeing him and listening to his talk was great.

Did you know there is a movie showing at the IMAX theatre called "Fighter Pilot"? Should be a good add-on to the Avalon weekend. Do you know if the Raptor is coming to Avalon? I missed it at Oshkosh last year as I was flying in a B-17 when it arrived. What an experience!

Is that "Fighter Pilot" thing the old Red Flag IMAX movie? It's floating around on the net.

The Raptor? Could only wish, definately not expecting it.

The unsefull ones are about 20mgs, got some more on annother camera but that might be another 20 or so. Not sure if my email will handle that, but i'll try and zip them.

Although the flying and weather were disappointing at times, from a corporate point of view the show was very successful. Lots of contacts made and renewed for future use.

It was also great to catch up with a couple of the guys from the boards here - sorry if I looked a bit out of it when we finally caught up but after several long days and late nights I was shattered and badly needed a beer and a sleep!

Cheers

20mg is a large photo Ozzy. If you are still having trouble you could reduce the dimensions to about 1350 x 950 which should make each photo less than 1mg. That will still provide a picture that will fill a monitor screen when it is enlarged and be of good quality.

Cheers.

The dust storm early on Friday afternoon was a trial but fortunately the wind died down a bit before the flying got underway. I especially enjoyed the F111, F15, F16, Super and Classic Hornet, C17 and Roulettes. I thought a couple of the aerobatic pilots were total nutters who look unlikely to grow old! It was also good to be able to talk with some of the air and ground crews.

I also thought the LanDef exhibition was great and I really enjoyed seeing the M1A1 Abrams and the PZH2000 up close. The trade areas were worth seeing and also made a good refuge from the dust.

Like Magoo I thought it was great to catch up 'live' with a few of the guys from the board.

Cheers

No worries Magoo. We thought we were taking up a bit too much of your time as it was...

Hey Webs, only got back home from my trip today and as soon as I find my damn cable, I'll put a heap of photo's from Avalon into the gallery.

The dust storm was a pain. I was cleaning dust and grit out of my eyes and ears for days after that. Can't wait til the airshow moves somewhere "decent". Like Amberley for instance... :D

Cheers

AD.
