Well I would be very happy to see more Horizons built, but at the same time let's not forget that the Italian FREMMs carry Sylver A50 (or 70 if we buy Scalp Naval) and EMPAR. This means that Aster 30 can be loaded and guided towards target almost as well as if they came from an Horizon. The "almost" is due to the absence of the S1850 long range air search radar. Though EMPAR's range and the presence of a RAN40S air search radar almost make up for that absence.

At worst, even if it weren't big enough to be a LPDH, it will be a useful complement to our support forces, halfway between a Etna AOR and a San Marco LPDH.

Yes, their design has only one mast and no EMPAR, and the artillery isn't finalized yet but for the moment no 127mm main gun. Hence the differences with our design.Watching the FREMM video on DCN web ...
