I guess you're referring to the Nimrod MR4... That has been a really expensive project. But then again, I get the feel that the Brits consider those aircraft very, very important. Creme de la creme.
For the French carrier Richelieu is still in "pole position" though a re-run of Clemenceau or Foch is also plausible. Other big names that could be used are Jean Bart (a WW2 battleship referring to a famous French sea captain of the 18th century), Dunkerque or Strasbourg (other WW2 battleships), ...No, we will not!
I wonder what PA2 will be called? They toyed with calling PA1 (now Charles de Gaulle) Richelieu. Good name, I think. But wait a moment- AFAIK, there's never been a French warship called Napoleon Bonaparte. Time to correct the omission, peut-etre?

No offence, but this is very old news - names were out months ago. But it isn't premature because designs have been made and the MoD is serious about getting them - final designs and costs are to be submitted by the end of the month. It's expected they'll be approved.
