AW609 Tiltrotor conduct first trial aboard Cavour. So far Leonardo seems aim two functions for this Tiltrotor, Cargo transport and Maritime Surveillance (MPA). Perhaps in the later function, ASW and ASuW can also be added.

Who knows, this can turn out to be more affordable lighter alternative for V-22.
The AW609 is very suitable to replace some AB212s for many roles, but it has a higher price tag than the modern versions of the Bell 412 and the Marina Militare already has some large amounts of NH90s and EH101s. So maybe they will only order small amounts of the AW609 the coming 10 years.

The AW609, as I had the opportunity to see it in a test mission, has no cargo capability whatsoever.
The inside is very "VIP transport" focused.

It could be to useful to move SOF teams or officers around, or to serve as a small flying "office", but that's really it.

The 7th PPA "Millelire" was launched this morning in full-combat configuration.
Italy is very densely populated so this is how the launch ceremony usually looks like during summer...

Italian Navy signed the contract to build 2 new FREMM-Evolution frigates for 1.5 Billion euros.
The frigates will have a new 8 faces (4C,4X) dual band radar.

These new ones replace the two that were sold to Egypt straight from the production line i think?

No, the pair of frigates sold to Egypt were replaced by two additional FREMMs already launched earlier this year.
The last replacement ship was launched last month and was the 12th built by Fincantieri.
These two are a competely new evolution based on the FREMM-It design and will be FREMM the 13th and 14th ships built in Italy.

Fincantieri previously offer both Maestrale and Durand de la Penne for Interim Frigates for TNI-AL. They offer this Destroyers also as choice as TNI-AL shown preference for 140m+ ships. However considering having interim second hand capital ships become political liabilities during last election, then Prabowo's team decided to postponed this Interim Frigates program.

Still I heard rumours that Fincantieri still open to talk on either this two Destroyers or the last two Maestrale as interim Frigates, as part of PPA batch 2 offer. They are being offer as stop gap during Fincantieri construction for another 2 PPA in their partner yard in Batam.

We are talking about very capable ships that used to be some of the best destroyers in the world at the end of the last century.(Aegis excluded).
But, like everything else, they aged.
These ships require a very large crew compared to modern european designs and have become very expensive to operate for what they offer nowadays.
Another issue is that those ships still use american-made SM-1 standard missiles (RIM-66 in the MR version) while the rest of the navy transitioned to european systems (mainly Aster 15 and 30 in various versions).

But yes, they are beautiful ships and i hope that one of them could be a museum ship, but i wouldnt count on that.
The Garibaldi aircraft carrier will probably be a museum, tho.

Just from my amateurs eyes, seems it is using FREMM hull base and PPA sensors arrangements. It is quite impressive design with 80 VLS and 14.500 dwt.

The article says that the picture isn't updated, so it won't reflect the latest changes. The displacement's increased, & 80 VLS is said to be confirmed: before a range from 64 to 96 was being talked about.

About radar, it suggests that it's a new development, though that doesn't necessarily mean all new. I'd expect some new technology by the time the ships enter service, but it could carry over elements from current radars. Says X & S band, rather than the X and C band of the PPA full.

Mentions a new version of Sylver: A70 NG, able to take a wider range of missiles, including supersonic anti-ship.

Another info on Fincantieri, asside Fremm Evo that's Fincantieri already shown in Euronaval, article from RID talk of what they call PPA Evo. However from what I see, it is more another potential configuration of PPA Full Specs with 8x8 VLS modules from current 8x2 VLS modules.

Thus the changes not as much as FREMM Evo toward existing FREMM. In my opinion this just part of Fincantieri effort to make PPA more attractive as Frigates, especially in export market. This way Fincantieri practically can offer two kind of options for Frigates.

More information on this PPA Evo or PPA 2.0. The way I see it, it is not as much as Evo as FREMM Evo, but more to upgrade package toward existing PPA packages. In my understanding Fincantieri already make PPA modular design from beginning. Thus this is more upgrade on PPA packages that make it have more adaptability for AAW environment.

Italian Navy officialy signed the contractual option to start the integration of SCALP NAVAL on their new FREMM-EVO, PPA-EVO and DDX.
SCALP NAVAL will also be integrated on the U-212 NFS attack submarine.
