Thanks Todjaeger.

Where is the launcher currently located? Midships abaft the funnel?

I found a picture. I was correct in my assumption.

If the Mk 41 is being removed and Seaceptor located in that space couldn't a couple of NSM be secured forward of the bridge similar to the Australian harpoon installation to afford a standoff capacity

Immediately aft of the funnels, just starboard of the centre line.

If you look at the Devenport in Google Maps, you can see aerial views of what looks to be nearly the entire RNZN fleet at anchor. If you look carefully when fully zoomed in over one of the frigates, you can see the eight hatches of the VLS just aft of the funnels.

But is he any good at rugby .....

I think the award will go to that old rich bloke who will pay for the new Wellington City Hospital ... these public vote campaigns on the internet usually mean Boaty McBoatface type of results or the campaign to have Jedi on the list of religions on the official census form.

No idea if he will win the award, but Mr Dunajtschik would be a worthy recipient. Several years ago work took me on fairly regular visits to MFAT's head office, and I would occasionally come across an elderly bloke in overalls changing light bulbs and carrying out minor bits of maintenance. He had a bit of a European accent, and was always happy to chat while waiting for a lift. I assumed he was the handyman - it was only when the story above came out I realised that he owned the building!

Interesting article of a general nature which also stated they are working through the disposal time frame for some of the IPV. The drones are interesting but I was disappointed that there was no desire to further enhance our MCM capability.

And Wigrams steak could be used to resole your boot :D I remember an NZ Army L/Cpl putting a piece of their steak on a wood block outside the Airmens mess kitchen and attempting to cut it with a chainsaw. The NCO i/c the mess who was a Flight Sgt saw him and did not have a sense of humour about it. The best food was served in the Combined Mess at Shelly Bay. Hobsonville and Whenuapai airmens messes were shockers and the junior rates mess at Tamaki even worse.

One of my cousins was a Royal Navy cook for over 20 years & a war or two. He's a bloody good cook (I've eaten his food) & took pride in what he fed the RN's sailors, e.g. on Illustrious.

FYI - BMT's latest offering, the Venari 85 (link). Perhaps another candidate for the LOSC vessel (currently lingering in procurement purgatory - see p358 of this thread). Not a lot of detail on specs though (length 85.9m, tonnage?, speed?, range?). The RHIB alcoves look to be in a better position than those on Damen's MRAV 3600 however. Can land a Wildcat size helo (rather than a NH90), but only hangar a UAV. Up to a 57mm Bofors in armament. Conventional diesel-electric propulsion rather than azipods (which I'd prefer for a hydrographic role)

IIRC, BMT were teaming with Freire shipyard (based in Vigo, Spain) to bid for the LOSC.

An interesting option indeed but is it plausible? Like other programs announced there is little public information on the status of the Littoral replacement other than the May 2017 report of delays to the program and possible redesign of the requirements.

Does anyone have any update? What can we anticipate? Were the original requirements pie in the sky or as I feel appropriate for a multi purpose platform?

Right now, this too could be the replacement for the FFH's. It comes down to what capabilities do gov't determine the replacements must have, when the replacements must be in service by, and how much is gov't willing & able to spend.

Absent more information that is up to date, we can only speculate.

Babcock is putting forward a 120 x 19 metre, 4000 ton frigate design, the Arrowhead. There's a PDF on their website somewhere. Looks interesting.
