Ah, I knew you'd have the details to hand
I'm not sure you can extrapolate some of your assumptions to what you see as the logical conclusions.....More like pushed into service despite many unresolved issues. But I'm not criticizing the F-35 performance. I'm sure it's a superb aircraft. What I try to point out here is that, if F-35 was not design with STOVL in mind, It may not suffer as much problem as it is now. The development cost alone is far higher than the more capable F-22. There's reason why many countries which embarked on supersonic VTOL program ditched it in the end.
are you going to exercise the option of diving back into that forum - doing a lazarus on the relevant thread and sitting back with popcornNah, can't be true, I've been told many times on another forum that we'll never see more than a half dozen on deck and I'm a deluded idiot for believing otherwise
Nah. There's one thing that will get me back in there and that's the first live fire shot of an SM2 from DDG1000. Some Powerpoint warrior announced the Zumwalts couldn't use them and when I pointed out that ICWI works fine for a slightly modified SM2, and posted a link to an order for a quantity of that very thing, for that very destroyer, he got very shirty.are you going to exercise the option of diving back into that forum - doing a lazarus on the relevant thread and sitting back with popcorn
and even better when its facts vs opinion....Revenge, a dish best served frequently.
What time does the Commons start sitting?Exactly
It's a good bit of news for the UK mind you, plus the P8 announcement appears to be a thing which is actually a bit of a result.
Thanks, that'll be 0330 Tuesday morning for me, so I'll be catching up on my beauty sleep. The ugly pills work to well.Time? 14:30 BST every day other than Tuesday and Thursday I believe.
Here's the Beeb link to the expected announcements:

Ah, The America. More an aircraft carrier than a phib. Which bring up the fact that operating F-35B require some serious modification to the current LHA design, even to the point of building a new type of LHA. Maybe USS America will be the shape of a new USN carrier force. Maybe in the future, if USS America-F-35B combo work well, USN will abandon or reduce it's CATOBAR carrier and replace it with America class. And remember the new America Class LHA can carry up to 20 F35 in a surge capacity if needed
Ah no, minor mods will be needed for current gators to work with F35B. America class is an Aviation enhanced version USS Makin Island of the Wasp class origins, reason being it was to accomadate more aircraft below deck for maintenance, follow on orders after LHA-7 USS Tripoli will have a smaller well dock than current Wasp Class gatorsAh, The America.
