There is a general condition where over a certain sea state (and contingent on hull design issues, sea conditions) that the hull will start to porpoise.
It varies with the vessel and is something that should have been picked up in sims or tank testing well before going to trials
There's no shortage of designers and engineers I've come across in the private sector who's understanding of HF is basically at the IKEA level and where they have no understanding of how its used for issues such as common combat rooms in subs, or why lead in fighters are glassed up.
These carriers (both russian and indian) only need to be a value for money proposition for their owners - and their limitations can be and will be addressed by common sense seamanship and refined CONOPs
They will have constraints, but none of those should be considered as absolute show stoppers.
Ship Construction by D;J Eyres is a basic primer. You could also look at Ship Design and Contruction by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (edited by Tagget) as another good primer..
Sorry this is just childish. If you want to sound like you know what you are talking about at least do some research.
Being an industrial designer does not equip you to be an expert in all areas noting external appearance does not necessarily mean some thing wil lnot work. I have seen some hull forms that look great and are an unmitigated failure. Flippant and patronising comments are hardly a compelling argument from some one who appears to be claiming to be an expert.

This would be the first occasion when Japan has offered to export military technology to India.
Not military technology. Search & rescue amphibians. Operated by the JMSDF in Japan, but the sort of equipment operated by coastguards, civil protection agencies etc. in many countries. The Russian contender is only in civilian service, & the Canadian one mostly civilian-operated.

The K-152 Akula II Class Nerpa is slated to be inducted into the IN by this month end as INS Chakra.

The refurbished Nuclear powered submarine would be armed with the Klub missiles and will be with the IN for a lease period of 10 years. The INS Chakra coupled with the INS Arihant would immediately increase the operational knowledge/skill sets of the IN submariners on the management and operations of nuclear submarines, which would in turn help induct the future vessels of the Arihant and follow-on classes of nuclear submarines
Questions that remain are (a) Will India be able to operate and deploy nuclear tipped missiles of ranges in excess of 300 Kms from the INS Chakra (b) Will there be a 2nd Vessel of the same class be leased to India and also will these vessels be able to be acquired by India at the end of the lease period

Ok, two big things happened in this week for Indian Navy, K-152 Nerpa has been handed over to Indian Navy and will join active service from March 2012 as INS Chakra.

I got this image from an Indian defence forum, what figures there are on Wiki (i know, rubbish source material) do substantiate them so i'll be prepared to say these are at least approximatelty accurate

Well, some reports say that INS Chakra has been configured for launching Klub-s and later on Nirbhay for commonality with the Kilo fleet. Anyhow, INS Aridaman, second of Arihant class subs should be joining somewhere early next year.

Karnataka to host third big naval air base
In a bid to strengthen its capability along the western sector, the Indian Navy is to set up its naval air base in Karwar in Karnataka, where Russian- built aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov would be stationed. According to navy officials, Karwar naval air base is part of phase II of the Rs10,000 crore Project Seabird and this air base will be used to operate surveillance and fighter aircraft. The base will provide operations for fixed and rotary wing military aircraft.
Navy officials told DNA that besides Admiral Gorshkov (to be named INS Vikramaditya), six Scorpene submarines and other warships will also be stationed in the naval base in the future. The Indian Navyexpects the delivery of INS Vikramaditya in early 2013.
“With the approval of ministry of defence, Karwar naval air base will be operationalised soon,” a senior navy official told DNA.
According to navy officials, the Karwar base would be the third such major base of the Indian Navy and is being strengthened at a time when Pakistan is developing ports with the help of the Chinese. It will also provide strategic depth to its maritime force bedsides decongesting its base in Mumbai, which has seen a significant increase in merchant shipping.
The Navy’s air base is in Goa where the MiG 29K and Sea Harrier fighter aircrafts are stationed.

The defence minister has confirmed that India is looking forward to leasing out the second Akula II sub as well. Wasn't the second incomplete hull in a far worse shape than the nerpa ?

Is the sub on the picture the Nerpa or just an Project 971?
