Guys words cannot describe the disappointment that gripped my heart and the hearts of the 160 million people of Bangladesh when West Indies lost a match they were winning from the start, it was like they seized defeat from the Jaws of victory. Their victory over England would have meant that Bangladesh would qualify to the quarters and England would crash out.
The WI had the backing of every single man, woman and child in my country, when England started losing wickets the excitement spread like wild fire, never before had a match between two teams matter so much to third party. Every English wicket was greeted with deafening roar from all the people who were glued to their TV sets and radios and when England were 188/6 and later 216/8 celebrations were every where but some good batting from the lower order meant that England reached a respectable total of 243, but when Smith and Gayle started their impressive Batting everyone was sure that England would lose, but then wickets started falling and the captain came in and brought things to a stable postion and looked to finish the game but another collapse took place and this time effectively killed the West Indies Batting attack and the match lost and along with it came a tsunami of disappointment.
But hope is not yet gone as tomorrow is our epic clash with South Africa, the reult of this match will decide the fate of Bangladesh, West Indies and England which two of the three teams will head to the quarters.
On Todays matches, Ireland beat Netherlands by 6 wickets despite the fact that ton manRyan Ten Doeschate got the Dutch to a huge total of 306, some great batiing from the Irish side(mostly by centurion Stirling and Captain Porterfield and mid order Niall O Brian) sealed their victory. These two teams are the pride of the associates and both leave the tournament with a lot of allocade, whatever Lorgat says these two side deserve to be in the 2015 edition of the world cup.
Sri Lanka also beat New Zealand thanx to a century from in form captain Kumar Sangakkara and a half century from batting maestro Mahela Jayawardena and of course some awesome bowling from the Legend Murali.
On a related note Pakistani pace legend Shoib Akhter announced that he is going to retire after the world cup.
He has done a lot for Pakistani cricket and has had a great career( if you over look the drugs abuse charges, corruption charges, disciplinary charges, suspensions, banishments and getting kicked out of county cricket, yeah other than that a great career!)
