Hello from a cold place

Hello everyone! I registered here because of a general interest in most thing military and this seems to be a good place to learn and discuss such topics in a civilized manner. Served for the better part of my youth in the Norw. Army, combat engineering, even had a stint north of the polar circle. Long time retired into the civilian life and working as an engineer.

A warm welcome to you. We need more current and former combat engineers to enrich our discussions here. :D

Hello, all! I'm a graduate student in Security Studies here in the U.S. My interests include domestic weapon production in Gaza, PLA ground forces, and irregular warfare. I'm looking forward to many fruitful and interesting discussions! Also I'd like to wish any and all fellow Americans or Irishmen a happy St. Patrick's Day in advance.

New American member, personally experienced in aerospace topics...

Hey, everyone:
New to this site for a day or two as of this posting. My Dad was an aerospace engineer for the defense industries in Southern Calif., for 30 years total before retiring. I went through some of his university textbooks that were written by experts in the aerospace field, who taught courses back in the 30s and 40s.
I'm primarily interested in supersonic aircraft, especially American-built designs. I hold an A.A. in computer programming from a now-defunct college that used to be in Okla. Theoretical research is my forte.
That said, I'll start by posting on the Fighter Performance thread, where I do have a few opinions that I'll assert descriptively, in detail, with references wherever possible.

Thank you, Kilo. I think the mental stimulation from thoughtful Member's questions/comments should be a challenge. Looking forward to perusing the Air Force... forum threads. My greatest personal experience is in that field. I'm also a USAF vet.

Question: Where's the Spell Check function?

Just an old mechanic who grew up an army brat

Hello everyone,

I was never in the military myself. I grew up in various small towns, army bases, etc., while my dad was in Vietnam. I have become a little obsessed with the U.S.-Vietnam conflict as I grow older and realize what a huge impact it had on my life.

I would like to correspond with other people who were in any way affected by the Vietnam war.

I have some older friends who were in the service around that time, and that has helped me find some perspective.

best regards, with respect and affection to everyone regardless of political views, cultural baggage, or whatnot. This life is short, it makes no sense, and all we have is each other.
