I seriously doubt that Georgia will ever get modern weapon from Nato states: as US are not going to let Russia check in a battle its contemporary weapon and find its weak sides. So i can hardly imagine AH64 / A1M2 / Patriot Pac3 or even F16 ...... Moreover F16 with georgian pilot is no way serious threat than F16 with US pilot , the same story with tanks / helicopters

Nobody in US will risk the image of its weapons.

all what will get Georgia will be from Ukrain/Israel/Turkey. and something old (from 70s)from US

Georgia ever being able to beat Russia is about as likely as Mexico ever being able to beat the USA.

doctrine, equipment and coordination will do nothing against people living in Osetia or Abhazia. Georgians will have to murder all the men in this "new independent states" to join this territory. It is possible to defeat an army, but not the people ......

I have 2 friends born in Abhazia ,(they were studying with me in University) they told me that they will buy RPG and Kalashnikov and go to protect their land and families if any Georgians' attack happens again.

You know the parallel is striking. Bay of Pigs, Russian involvement in the Georgian Civil War. Animosity on the ideological level. Foreign support by a distant super power.

According to internet sources Georgians are in path of designing a modern MBT with the help of General Dynamics Land Division but also with the help of General Electric.The tank main armament is a 125 mm smoothbore gun with a coaxial 7,62 machine gun as secondary armament.

How reliable are these sources? You can imagine how huge the budget have to be to develope a modern MBT. And why should Georgia develope an own new MBT?

I don't see why they can't grab some surplus T-72M1s, contract an Israeli company to modify the turret, import some modern optics from Germany or France, and then call it a "Georgian" tank.

As far as i understand it is a off-route anti-tank mine (designed to be detonated in proximity of a vehicle and not underneath it). I think there's a picture on the blog Feanor provided links to that says just that - RD-7 anti tank mine.

It's a heavily modified BMP-2 fitted with imported kit. As many as 3 have been seen at the same time. It's unclear whether they have a larger program going, for converting BMP-2s into Lazika IFVs. Given their own fairly limited supply of BMP-2s, it's likely they would have to source surplus BMP-2s abroad, if they started a major program to that intent.
