it is more than any other countly in the world (do not beleive wiki)
also, Russia has 1500 T-80, ~400 T-90 and so on.
Then U.S. started to build Abrams M1, it has less armor than old T-62/64. New M1A2 was introduced in 1992, originally US wanted 3000 of them, then reduced it to 1809 because of Soviet Union collapce. Then reduced this number to 122, but finally build only 62(!!) machines. Therefore, most of US tanks is outdated M1 and M1A1 variants.
They are 20 years old, how many rusted out nobody really counted.
Of course, some M1A1 would be modernized up to M1A2, but same amount (in fact, almost twice more) Russian tanks is also will be modernized. For eample, in 2006 Russia modernized 180 tanks.
By the way, Abrams is too heavy and will just stuck in Russian soil, not mention will fail to cross most EU rivers - bridges is not strong enough...
Abrams has very good front armor, but lacks it from read and from the sides (remember Iraq). It is also much bigger tank (bigger target) and usually do not fire while moving (normal practice for Russian tanks).
Let's add gun launched Russian rockets, which can fly up to 8 km; Abrams doesn't have such capability, therefore, it might never came to firing range at all.
I did not even started wtih tanks+artilery taktic (remember, Russia has way more artillery) when Abrams will suffer additional fire. There are ways to neutralize it's superiority with heat seeking devices and so on.
It is way more complicated guys, then just read wiki, compare 2 numbers and beleive you now Gods
, which is to heav
