What kind of mask is it, do you have the nomenclature for it.

Its a M-17 I need to change the porkchop filters does anyone know how?
You need to remove them from with in the protective mask, they just pop in so do not be afraid to give them a extra tug. If you are not going to be using it for a chemical environment, (I hope not:unknown ) then I would recommend you leave the old ones in and do not remove the new ones from the sealed bag.

If you don't mind me asking... what exactly are you going to do with the mask, that you need it in working condition?

Hope you don't have any terror related ideas on your mind.

nothing I just want it working is that to much to ask I not going to do anything with it. A working gas mask is a lot cooler then a broken one.

True ... well I am not an expert on gas mask. Hope someone here can really help you.

I have a NBC suit and gas mask, that doesn't mean I am a terrorist either. Always pays to be prepared especially after the equine influenza incident.

Hope you get it working.

ok,i have used that mask in the 1980,s. The filters are beneath the grill on the cheeks. cant remember if they unscrew or pop off, but remove the "grills" on the cheeks, and remove the filters (they kinda look like the body of christ"used in catholic comunion") round and paper like. A trick to teach us to keep our masks in our possesion was to remove one filter if the mask was found unattended. then you got a surprise when you did CS gas training:eek:nfloorl:

test....put the mask on as if you were wearing it. adjust the straps, and make sure no hair is caught under the rubber seals. Place the palms of your hands firmly over both of the cheek filters, and take a deep breath. the mask should "suck" to your face. if it does, then it is working, you have acheived a seal. the disk filters need to be new.
