India's plan is to work in the PAF-FA .. Pick up the requried tech etc .. and then build the MCA .. I was refering to the first prototype to fly by 2009, just an estimate
no no no siri you can't build something as hihg tech as MCA in such a time frame look at the JSF and all other AC like those you need to allow some time for these once its desinged then it can be built really quickly.

Well for starters MCA is gonna be built upon the LCA framework, so it's not work from scratch. And these are just unconfirmed estimates that I found, I am not claiming that "MCA shall fly by 2009" .. just quoting some rough estimates.. :)

i think we will see an MCA by 2015-20 i can't see it Materializing before that. It will be an AC that will represent India's true Sophistication in aeronautics Technology, i doubt India would push the developers to meet an early deadline because A: india has Su 30 and now the Pak FA and B: LCA needs undivided attention of the scientist and engineers. concentrateing on MCA would mean diverting Resources from the LCA to MCA which is unacceptable, as LCA is already late and needs more development to make it an appealing AC to be purchased and Inducted in large numbers by IAF and other Airforces. :) cheer up the PAK FA would be a worthy Addition to IAF's Already regional Superiority in Air-force technology. the new Falcon AWACS would only make the IAF a more Lethal and formidable Airforce.

I really don't think working on MCA should mean diverting resources, although diverting priority may occur. But you can rest assured that work on the MCA will gain a lot of momentum 2006-2007 onwards.

Right now you are correct, the LCA has the priority and the foreign acquisitions are more than enough to maintain IAF's air superiority.

now IAF's main concern should be intigration and training they should spend more improveing the structure further rather then getting shiny new toys, these new Toys should be enough for the time being, if they employ these new Equipment with rite training they should be able to further enhance the ability of IAF ithink BAE Hawk trainers were brilliant choice i was watching a Program where they were showing the features of the trainer it is a nice trainer with comprehensive Traing system including EW training. but i would of thought the Mirage 2005 trainer would of been a more suitable choice, since IAF operates a large sized French AC fleet.

Just to add onto your last comment, the IAF pilot's get the most flight hours training, on par with the IDAF and the USAF. The training scene has been improving vastly since 1997, and now we can say we are one of the very best.

Anyway this thread is going hopelessly out of topic, back to the PAK-FA discussion everyone.

Guess that is why India bought British Hawk Trainers...Ain't it adSH? For the better training of Indian Pilots?

Well, if you want a true 5th generation fighter you need:

1. New engine with a lot of power! For supercruise, even the Russian dun have this ability yet, how you suppose where the Indian going to have such technology? Even money can buy every thing but what good if nothing for you to buy?

2. LCA and MCA both in different generation fighter, that mean their superstructure are different! India need to do everthing from the basic, if not, what you get will be only another "bigger" 4th generation fighter.

agree?

Do you believe that PAKFA is a FSW raptor?

Admin. Welcome to the forums. Unfort your first post has not been ideal as a demonstration of whats required.

Please take the time to introduce yourself to others in the New Members thread Members Intros

In addition, please read the Forum Rules before continuing any further - paying attention to the issue of one liners.

Further, please do some basic research before posting. It's apparent that you haven't done basic research on alleged PAKFA development and are confusing it with the FSW Berkut. As such, the Berkut is stillborn and was abandoned as a CTD some years ago.

We look forward to further posts, but pause and research before your next one.
