Russians Focus On Next-Generation Technologies : Yuri Borisov

Evidently the T-50-6 made first flight yesterday.
Moar to follow shortly.

Yes, Here you see a new release and people here thinking me doubm talking and relating USA and Russia. Here is a news release talking on the same voice as mine.

While Barack Obama is busy gutting the military of the United States and reducing it to dangerously low levels of readiness, the Russians are pushing forward with plans to adopt one of two next-generation assault rifles to replace the various 7.62×39 AKMs and 5.45×29 AK-74s currently in use. The news post is in Bearing Arms dot Com

You need to read the forum rules and refrain from trolling and flame-baiting. If you want to discuss Russian plans for new assault rifles that's fine, but any more attempts to troll such as this one will not be taken kindly. Consider yourself warned.

Today in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, made its first flight 6th prototype fighter 5th generation T-50 (PAK FA). The plane is made of Komsomolsk-on-Amur aviation plant them. YA Gagarin is a branch of PJSC "Company" Sukhoi ".

Dates First flight:

T-50-1 - January 29, 2010

There is no photo or vid release yet. Sukhoi is very murky these days. Its been half a week and the T-50-6-2 must have made several flights by now.
Not long before it gets hauled over to Zhukovsky AB.

Hi Haavarla, is there any information regarding what this aircraft will be testing? I think I came across the planed test aircraft purpose before but can't seem to find it now.

Thanks.

The general assertion is that it has a slightly refined skin. But I think sensors, weapons and data link are a priority.

IMO stuff like Engines and control handeling performance(fbw software)has been worket out by now.

New and final engine is at least two year ahead.
They have two of them in test benches now.

Info about Mig-31BM2 is none existing on open Internet.
The only sources state it is a deeper upgrade on most of its system. Newer weapons and the most interesting of them all, the D30-06 engines are being modernzed.
To what end I don't know. It could be lower spesiffic fuel consumption or higher thrust without AB. Less weight. Or a combination of them all.

The one on the picture, side nr#06#red is the first prototype with the BM2.
They announced this 1 year ago. And now it is flying.

Pure speculation on my side, think they will get similar cockpit layout as Su-35S. Two large Multi function displays. And similar sensors EW, self defence suite.

A peek at the latest T-50-6-2 prototype:

https://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/25232/99344284.6b/0_13d71b_da753374_orig

As i said earlier. Only small improvements to the airframe/skin.
Engine covelings installed, optical sensors. EW sensors. Radars installed, etc

Edit:
The much shrouded Mig-31BM2 is up nd about:
I believe the -2 has been structurally enhanced to eliminate some of the stress cracking on the first series of prototypes that occurred toward the front of the aft weapons bay, and generally beefed up where needed. As you indicate 6-2 is flying with sensors and systems up and running, very pretty airplane, some sensors have been repositioned for better function and maintenance. The tail sting appears to have been lengthened as well, I believe the engine covers have been painted camouflage, rather than the -1s flat black engine covers.

Well thank you. I doubt serious engine upgrades can happen in 1 year.
Yes it depends. If they do the same as the AL-41F1S( idz117) engines on Su-35S.
Keep the same hot engine core, and build a new cold fan section with larger diameter fan. And give it all full FADEC utility.
It should be doable, again it depends when they started..

I just read this Yahoo article:Yahoo!

It looks more like Anti-Evil-Russia propaganda to me. But even then, is it really so that all the 300 something Su-27 are grounded only because one recently crashed?
In the whole world in every air force, fighterjets and other aircraft fall sometimes from out the sky...

Standard regulation during peace time operation.
Besides, it was a clear indication from this particular accident that something technical was fault.

Vietnamese Fighter Jet Missing in the South China Sea

"The aircraft is a Sukhoi Su-30 MK2, and was flying some 30-40 km off the coast of Nghe An province. The reason for the disappearance is unknown."

Another serious accident? It was in the SCS aera, too. Also, the article mentions the lifting of the US embargo and that they are looking into buying F-18s and other equipment. Another customer lost I presume.

Hard to say. They bought Russian tank transporters, and maybe new T-90SM tanks, a starter batch of 28. So are they lost? Russia is also currently designing new patrol ships for them. While the Dutch ship order is apparently cancelled.

Third Tu-214R has been contracted. This likely means that reported issues with the first aircraft have finally been resolved. These are modern ELINT platforms for the Russian airforce, giving them significant new capabilities. And the first aircraft have been used to listen in on the Japanese in trials, and on the Ukrainians and over Syria for actual deployments.

An RVSN general recently dropped a bombshell, saying Russia is working on a hypersonic sub-orbital bomber, that will combine jet and rocket engines. It will be hypersonic when flying using the rocket engine, and be able to deliver long range weapons to anywhere on earth (if this is real, it might be the true carrier for the izd. 4202 hypersonic munition). First prototype is supposedly planned for 2020, but personally I find this a ridiculous timetable. Currently the RVSN academy has a working engine for it. Allegedly it will be a two-format engine which will be able to work without oxygen or with very little oxygen.
