Rampart loaded with 3x4-cell pods for 12x Mistral-3 + 1x-12-cell pod for 70mm APKWS-II weighs at least 2,916kg, probably more. The launcher itself reportedly weighs exactly 2.5t empty. This would still appear to rule it out however as the "maximum above-deck weight for each fully operational Effector Station (ES) shall not exceed 2,500.kg". We know that each of the Phalanx positions can handle a weight of well over 6t, so the 2.5t limit probably indicates this system will be positioned elsewhere, maybe further forward where the Royal Navy depicts installing Dragonfire. I’m assuming this isn’t news, but the RAN official website leaves the door pretty open to Japan delivering more than the first 3 Mogamis. The wording is very intriguing - either conceding Henderson won’t be ready or the cadence of Japan builds will deliver the capability faster.

Three years to build our first Evolved Mogami. How long will we take per hull? Based on the Hunter, admittedly a more complex build, I would suggest considerably longer.

Im not sure on timeline of production of Mogami,s in Japan versus Australia and certainly the cost of the build is likely to be different ,but would it address some issues if Mogami,s were initially built in Japan and sent to Australia to be finished off per customised needs
