2 more Miguel Malvar class being contracted with HHI.

Notice of Award (NOA) is the first step. Notice to Proceed (NTP) would mean the contract is activated and binding in PH procurement terms.

HD Hyundai confirmed that the contract is in effect. Key points:
  • The contract is worth 844.7 billion Korean won (USD 585.6 million), and both vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the Philippine Navy by the second half of 2029.
  • The newly ordered frigates will be constructed using the same specifications as the Miguel Malvar-class frigates. This means that construction can be accelerated since there would no long PDR/CDR phase.

PT. PAL set target for completion of both Philipines LPD. First one by Nov this year and second one by Nov next year. In the article it is call the delay due to "some challenges the proponent is facing."

We can speculate the challanges mostly due to delay on FMP, and thus subsequently push down also UAE and Pinoy LPD's s schedulles.

Different with Indonesia defense agreement, with Philipines the type of assets being talk for transfer are being singgle out. It is Abukuma Destroyer Escort and TC-90 maritime patrol plane. This Beechcraft 90 based aircraft has been transfer before, so this is the talk for additional batches.

Philippine and Japan sign agreement to fasten transfer of Abukuma Destroyer Escort, and some additional TC-90. This is ongoing agreement, however the signing also put agreement for Tech Secret to safe guard Japan Tech on the assets. This tech secreet agreement is what Japan consider as main issue on transfer. Thus seems the transfer process after this will move faster.

1st LPD of batch 2 for Philippines navy seems clossing in to launch. From superstructure seems it will be different from previous batch. This is the 3rd LPD for Phillipines navy.

Personally I'm bit surprise this is ahead of UAE LPD/MLRS on the back ground. However I also suspect both will be launch on similar time range. This LPD already a year late, something that happen mostly because PAL make adjustments toward more complex FMP/Arrowhead 140.

PAL claim that they will launch 4 naval ships soon. I suspect it will be 1st FMP, then 1st Pinoy Navy LPD Batch 2 (LPD #3) and UAE MLRS. The 4th one many claim it will be Philippines 2nd LPD (especially Pinoy enthusiasts). However base on contract sequences should be 2nd FMP then 2nd Pinoy LPD.
