Pakistan denies Indian soldiers crossed LoC
(Updated at 1230 PST)

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani military on Thursday strongly denied reports that Indian soldiers had crossed the Line of Control(LoC) in Kashmir to help repair an army bunker damaged in the region's devastating earthquake.

"This is totally fabricated and there is no question of any Indian soldier crossing the LoC “, Pakistan's chief military spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan told foreign news agency.

"Our fighting bunkers are completely intact because their construction is very robust," Sultan said.

At least 450 Pakistani army soldiers were killed and around 700 injured when a 7.6 magnitude earthquake devastated large parts of Azad Kashmir and two districts in northern Pakistan on Saturday.

Sorry mod had to post it here as their is no where else to post it. But this post is of vital imp. to dispell the india proaganda

Cool it man....Do not call it propaganda. This is no time to do so. Both of us are picking up pieces of a huge tragedy. You people are hardest hit.I think you should not blow this out of proption. This may be a stray incident which happens even in peace situations. Your and our Soldiers guarding LoC and Border are quite helpful to each other in case of tragedies. I my self seeen many a times when my father was posted at Tangdhar. Many a times Pakistanis gave us chocolates( Chololates were not issued to Indians uptill 1986) and other packed food. Once even a Indian soldier borrowed first aid kit from Pakistani Post as nearest Indian post was 4 kms away and his colleague was bleeding heavily.

These incients do happen my dear because its our political brass which is fighting. All the soldiers defending borders are facing same harsh weather, same pain of lonely family at home, same fear of death ...everything is same. They do develop empathy for each other.

Today you refused to accept India's offer of help across LoC but belive us if you have offered us the same we would have done the same. This is bitterness and mistrust of 55 years which is preventing Pakistan from accepting India's help across LoC otherwise all of us very well know that many areas on your side are easily accessible from India and vice versa.

Belive us that whatever govt of India tries to do( bound by 55 year old diplomacy) but all the citizens of India are with people of Pakistan in this time. We have also faced these tragedies in past and always belived that our neighbours are also feeling pain for us. We can very well empathaize with you.

Therefore I request all of you not to flame anything rather ignore to even comment on these kinds of reports otherwise all of those died there will be insulted. This the time when we should help each other atleast emotionaly.

I hope I made my point here and feel extremely sorry for any reports hurting pride of Pakistan.

Television pictures of C130 in operation appear to be pretty impressive as well as being efective in air dropping supplies. Can't Pakistan's maritime aircraft such as Orions and and Atlantics be used for similar purposes despite not having rear cargo doors?

CHINOOK47 & BLACK HAWK - Already being used in the relief operations and being flown by US pilots.

MI-26 - TOO BIG! hard to find any place to land this bird up north!

MI-17 - Being used as owned by Pakistan Army & the Air Force.

SEA KING - Even the Navy has pitched in with its hels.

ALOUTTE - Pak Army hels being used to access & drop relief on hilly terrain.

C130 - Being used for pallet drops in forward hard-to-reach areas

ORION & ATLANTIQUE - Not deisgned for such operations.

BELL 412 - Recently acquired from the US under FMS. Fully operational.

We actually need around 60 hels to do the relief operation and currently around 30 hels are being used.

The BBC has reported that PAF C-130 pilots have been doing dangerous manuvers at low level flight (aswell as flying dangerously low) in the high himalyian mountains to drop the aid. Its a tough job but they are doing it. They have to do it.

Pakistan does not have a prob with indian help in fact as our president has said we apricate it n thank u for it. Wt hurts is the fact that some ppl in the indian govt. have not disauaded from using this unfortunate moment to further their own cause/agenda n that too based on lie.

I saw some excellent footage of pakistani C130's doing low level extractions over a runway that was too short to land on.

They would have been no more than 3m above the runway for almost a third of its length before pulling up.

very tricky flying and good flying skills demonstrated!

Muzaffarabad's runway is too short even for Cn-235s. The only planes which can land there are Y-11s and Y-12s.

No IAF halicopter are involved in the rescue. Indian offer was of halicopters with Indian pilots. Pakistan army wont allow any countries pilots to fly halicopters in their skies, specialy Indians. All Black Hawks & Chinooks are being piloted by Pakistani pilots (but there r co-pilots from U.S.).

Allowing Indians (Indian army) to fly halicopters in Kashmir might give away military possitions to them.

On the other hand Aid is welcomed. But we need more Halicopters.
No Sabre. U.S. choppers are being piloted by American pilots and manned by American loadmasters. Some Pakistani soldiers do accompany them on the flights to help unload/load the supplies/victims quickly.

Here are more pics of the C-130 dropping supplies. Really impressive flying by the PAF pilots as usual.

BTW I am going on donation collection drive sponsored by Finnish Red Cross for the field hospital they are running at Muzaffarabad. Hope I can collect as much money as I can. Wish me luck!

Some black hawks were flown by Pakistani pilots, BBC showed it the footage but dnt knw abt Chinooks. U.S pilots dint knw the way around mountains so they decided to be the co-pilots.

Anyways it doesnt matter who is flying them as long as they r doing their job.

US to provide Pak with 40 helicopters for help in relief activities

WASHINGTON: US has said that it would provide up to 40 helicopters and additional 130 tons of relief supplies for the quake relief operation in Pakistan.
US State Department Spokesman Adam Ereli talking to reporters at a daily press briefing in Washington said, " In Pakistan we currently have ten U.S. military helicopters supporting relief operations. These helicopters have now flown over 74 sorties and have delivered 61,400 pounds of supplies to the disaster area and they have evacuated hundreds casualties from the affected areas to Islamabad."

He said U.S. military cargo aircraft have delivered to Pakistan about 220 tons of relief supplies. And we expect that an additional 130 tons will be delivered today. This assistance includes tents, food, water, medicine, blankets, plastic sheeting, cargo handling equipment and forklifts.

On the way to Pakistan, is an additional four helicopters, which should arrive tomorrow, and we expect that an additional 25 to 30 helicopters will arrive within the next few days. So that's on the military side of things, quite significant -- 350 tons of supplies delivered, 74 sorties and 14 helicopters will be there by tomorrow and -- for a total of up to about over 40 in the next few days, he told.

On the relief side, USAID expects to deliver medical supplies by tomorrow, sufficient to treat 100,000 people for three months. Our DART team, as you know, is fully staffed and out there doing their assessments, he said.
