I believe its just a photo-shop with some kid putting his wildest imaginations in form of this computerized pic.

The USNavy is going for F-35 & they are no longer interested in F-14 like swing wing aircrafts. They apparently turn out to be too costly in terms of operation & maintainance.
It is just a concept painting from I forgot which company. It was a drawing to show a combo of a F-111 and F-22, and F-14.

If anything, THIS design, or somthing heavily based on it MUST be built:

Oh for fuck's sake. These are what we defence professionals refer to as plastic model kits, NOT designs. Why would ANYONE waste money trying to base a real aircraft on them?

No, you're wrong. There was never an F-19. Those pictures are cover art for a plastic model released in the early 1980s.

It's a painting based on the (rather well-known) model kit released by Monogram in 1987.

That model kit is based on an artist conception from the late 70s and modified a bit to make it look a bit like the "Firefox" from the movie of the same name in the early 80s.

As for that pic with that swing-wing aircraft, that's an artist concept based rather closely on rumours from "Area-51 spotters" about a swing-wing stealth "A-17" back in 1994 which was rumoured to be a F-111 replacement (that, in fact, the F-35 is now), and typically rumoured to share design elements and components with YF-23.

I just watched that again last month, and I reckon the Firefox would be a MUCH better fighter than the F-19.

Maybe we should build some. Right, Cutaway?

Did they not follow the F-15E programme? It was publicly stated and quite clearly is the replacement for the F-111. Why would the USAF add an additional role in their orbat when its not needed?

The "F-19" model kits were made to distract the public & commie spy rings from the real projects during the 1980s, but seriously i do believe the "F-19A Specter" airframe design would be feasible, even for a Naval ATF. Also the F-111 Aardvark was going to be designated "F-19".

As for the F-14, There was the SuperTomcat 21. One more improvement would be VT nozzles.

Although i love the F-14, I find the F-15 more practical as it had more uses, better capabilities and formed as a testbed for ATF projects.

And yes SuperSLime, the FireFox should be built.
