Or China could always forget about the catapult and use a Russian style ram, but that way it's almost impossible to accomodate heavy fighters or AWACS aircarfts on to the carrier.
Thats possible as well. But looking at the front struts on a J-10 they don't appear to be really prepped for launches of any type. I also think the tailhook is for conceptual work only at the moment. The undercarriage of a J-10 does not look "ready" for carrier work.

If they go for a ramp launch, that brings into question:

how they estimated the launch vessels optimum speed (hence engine configuration)

an understanding of wind dynamics across the deck

the thrust weight ratio of the planes most likely to be used.

all of those things seem a bit preliminary to me.

As much as I would enjoy learning Chinese, this still IS an english forum. Can anyone translate the above comment? Thanks!

The 52C against the Burke :D, you have got to be kidding me. Let's see the Burke has more missiles (not to mention longer range), the Evolved Sparrow, better EM suite, probably longer-range detection and ABM, better ASM equipment, Harpoon and Tomahawk…..
That like comparing a stick to a gun..

The Burke is more capable but it is no where near comparing a stick and a gun. It has more missiles and longer endurance. However the EM suit, harpoon, ABM cannot be considered as information of the 052C is not available. Both ships have similar phased array radar. The HQ-9 has similar range than the sm-2 but its affectiveness against ASM's are questionable. The Burke has a clear advantage in ASM. The other components are most likely to be more advanced, but how much more. Not in the analogy of a stick and agun. I am interested in seeing how the new 051C plays out.

The 51C might be equal to the Burke.....
And IF China decide to build a carrier would it be conventional or nuclear powered?
