Thats possible as well. But looking at the front struts on a J-10 they don't appear to be really prepped for launches of any type. I also think the tailhook is for conceptual work only at the moment. If they go for a ramp launch, that brings into question:
how they estimated the launch vessels optimum speed (hence engine configuration)
an understanding of wind dynamics across the deck
the thrust weight ratio of the planes most likely to be used.
all of those things seem a bit preliminary to me.
