At ADI or at Timoney?
It would be in Australia - the one I saw was at LWC at the centre on Darling Harbour.

Mild steel mules are built to also reduce shipping and transport costs.

When I was at JRA we also built a sixer Taipan S400 for the Kuwaitis. The vehicle was made out of mild steel so as to get around some export headache caveats as well as reduce the overall GVM for reduced transport costs.

Gawddamn! Someone MUST have an image of it................:D
Well, LWC doesn't allow 3rd party photography for commercial as well as security reasons. The MP's (in civvies) were at the time quietly chatting to anyone who raised a camera or mobile phone to their eye.....

I spent 12 months at JRA and never got a photo of anything, ditto with the Collins.

I thought the US were already decided to buy some Bushmasters straight from OZ, and build nearly 1500 under licence in the USA. Naturally they will no longer be called "Bushmaster" by them.
And that the Oz Military if they want to increase the amount of Bushmasters "which i think they should", will have to move now, or wait till the yanks get a amount, all but sent straight to the sandpit.
Or is this just another furfy. :unknown
Will check out the souces, i read, and pass them on.

Regards Lozza

The Bushmaster from ADI/Thales is a long way evolved from the original Timoney design. To the best of my knowledge they haven't had anything to do with the Bushmaster design for more than a decade. By far the biggest influence on the Bushmaster was the South Africans and their V shaped blast hulls.

I have not seen a 6 x 6 prototype, but I've been out of the loop for a while. But I do know that production engineering drawings exist.

I'm pretty sure that I saw a sixer at one of the LWC's recently. I thought that ADI had one on external display at Sydney a few years back (along with some counter battery radar systems)
That was a Copperhead 4 x 4 at the 2006 LWC conference in Brisbane. The counter battery radar was the sensor unit for the Orelikon Contraves Skyshield system from Switzerland.

I never made it to the Brissie LWC as I was overseas at the time. I'm referring to the one held at Darling Harbour a few years before.

Not sure what you saw then. At the 2005 LWC at the Gold Coast, the Copperhead was present as the Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) with a gen set on the back. ADI changed the name to Copperhead in mid 2006. My memory is a bit hazy, but I seem to recall that this was the first public outing of the Ute.

On the balance of odds, you're probably a better chance of getting it right than me, I'm starting to feel as though I've been belted by the alzheimers stick.

I would have sworn on a stack of the proverbials that I've seen it a few times - and in the same years that they had Caesar, NZ SAS's Pinzgauers and the ute on show. (not all at once, but I remember these vehicles on display). It was also the first year that H&K put their MP7 on display.

Maybe I'm merging memories and have stuffed all of them up accordingly ..

The COPPERHEAD vehicle 6x6 photo i saw was a computer generated vehicle but there is a mock up of the 4x4 copperhead vehicle in the DEFENCE TODAY (september/october 2006 land warefare confrence pages 32-34)
A good article on the copperhead can be found there
I was wondering if this vehicle has a chance in the program for the ADF to replace a number of old vehicles?
i would think that this vehicle could be used to carry certain sized shipping containers to troops deployed on the frontline. It makes sense to have a armored re-supply vehicle for places such as Afghanistan and Iraq where the IED threat is high. would like to know what other members think of the capabilities of this vehicle.I for one love the Bushmaster and Copperhead vehicles.
Hope we get alot of future orders for bushies, and the Copperhead goes into production with a number of vehicles purchased by the ADF. We all need to support Australian defence companies and i think the copperhead and bushies are and will be a great Australian export.(fingers crossed)

The next order could be from the Australian Federal Police, who are looking for armoured vehicles to equip their International Deployment Group.

According to the latest Security (Aust subscription mag for industry members) articles, AFP SOG are not looking at Bushmasters as they do not fit mission profile or requirements

Can you give us a lowodown of their mission profiles? was this issue discussed in an article? I'll be one operation or somthing flaring up in timor or the solomons will change that.

Not publicly released yet. They won't be paramilitary in the traditional sense though.

RG-32's or 31's and the like would be the thing, possibly up to Iveco LMV's and EAGLE IV's altho the latter is pricey............

Possibly backed up by a few larger types, as in the truck category but light truck along the lines of MOWAG DURO IIIP 6x6 but if you go there you may as well use Bushies.

That would be the "heavy" end of the requirement.......the rest could be lightly armoured Wolf's or even Ford F350's, not so "military" or threatening (apparently!).

Without knowing the specification of what is required it's all "guess-timate" stuff................
