News of the Brazilian Navy C-1A upgrade program has finally been released, Elbit systems' US subsidiary have been awarded a $106 million subcontract (with Marsh Aviation as prime contractor) to upgrade 4 airframes.

In Brazilian Navy service, the upgraded C-1A's will be COD/AAR aircraft designated as KC-2.

The aircraft will be serving on their aircraft carrier, NAe São Paulo.

No, and if I had to guess the order was cancelled. Currently the only fixed-wing aircraft operated by the Brazilian Navy are A-4 Skyhawks, everything else is helicopters. Naval aviation inventory is here.

Any use the Brazilian Navy had for COD fixed wing Aircraft disappeared with the retirement of the Sao Paulo in 2017, the Atlantico(ex HMS Ocean) can only operate Helicopters in Brazilian Navy service. @Todjaeger above has provided a list of current Aircraft operated by the Brazilian Navy as per there own Website.

The Brazilian Navy (Marinha do Brasil) reached a major milestone for its SN-BR project with the approval of the basic design of the future nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN).

Brazilian Navy set the design for their first SSN. Base on the cut out, it will be based from their Prosub program with French (scorpene based). However with 100m length, considerably larger.

I suspect that Brazilian nuclear propulsion still not compact enough compared to nuclear propulsion from more established nuclear power countries. Still it's going to be big achievement for Brazil.

Yes a big achievement for Brazil. I think that the reactor department compactness will depend upon how much help that the French provide the Brazilians in the engineering side.

The Brazilian Navy is in the process of receiving its seventh and final modernised Skyhawk fighter jet.
Embraer upgraded in total 7 Skyhawks under a $106 million contract. After the crash of one AF-1B in July 2016, the Brazilian Navy now has 4 single seat AF-1B and 2 twin seat AF-1C in its fleet.

Xavier in Brazil on the ceremony for commission of first Scorpene based Brazilian build Submarine Richuelo. While in the video he also talk the second submarine Humaita that now on sea trial certification process.

He also then taking to NG CEO on potential two new customers for Scorpene based submarine in SEA (Indonesia and Philippines), also talk with the Brazil submarine yard CEO and shown working progress on the third submarine in the yard.

This model of licensing and production assistance is the similar process that NG offer to Indonesian MinDef for PAL participation. Something that NG claim can transfer the tech and industrial process from first boat to build locally. Not like other OEM offer.

First Tamandare Frigate begin keel laying by Thyssen and Brazilian Partners JV. The project already run since 2017, shown how domestication projects will take much longer time then just import the assets.

Something that I still see on some in otherother forums 'complaining' on length time and costs of domestication projects. It is simply if you want to attract foreign vendors working with your MIC for any domestication effort (license or JV), will create more costs and times then just simply imports.

Brazil launch the first Tamandare Frigates. As only March last year they begin to keel laying the Frigate, means the progress is also quite smooth and on schedule. Incidentally at the ceremony of this Frigate launch, Brazil President Luna also inform the ATR 72 crash (put it on General Aviation thread).
