I think its a little weird the USAF is really making a big deal about this latest security leak. Two things are likely, the information the Chinese gained for the traitor is not of any significant value. Or just maybe by the time the PRC is able to do anything with the information the USAF will have new toy for the PLAAF to worry about. :D

tp huang: Chinese economy

First of all they started from a very low level - the double of close to nothing is not very much either.

Secondly China started counting - in accordance with western practises - a lot of economic activity that had hitherto been covered within the chinese factories. An example to illustrate the principle: If the workers are paid next to nothing but are provided with free meals and housing at the outset, then all of a sudden they get paid more and have to pay for their meals and flats, that gives a huge raise in economic activity without more work being done.

Grand Danois:

Tony Blair gave the figure that Europe spends on defence 2/3 of what the USA spends; but have nowhere near 2/3 of the clout.

As to opting for the slightly less capable weapon and save greatly:

a) I aint gonna happen: Every time an arab terrorist takes a pot shot at a Danish post the MP are screaming to get tanks in there. Dansk Folkeparti are the worst (and it is a constant occupation of the other parties to get to them before they say something idiotic - with meagre results); but the other are not better.
b) Some places second simply won't do: If a fighterbomber has 90% performance it will achieve 50% result; but if it is an airsuperiority fighter you are 100% dead.
c) Generally it is being done: Updating old equipment, buying second hand and so on.
d) Some of the equipment needs to be produced because needs have changed. The transport aircraft were bought (C-17 and C-130J) because there is a greater emphasis on transport and less on armour - this goes for all.
e) Buying cheap can be very expensive: If we buy Gripen instead of Lightning II we will end up with buying new fighters with shorter intervals. We bought the F-16 and both competitors to that sale have been retired quite some time ago. This a the real problem with europe: development time is so long that the equipment is getting long in tooth before it is operational: Remember the Fennec???

But otherwise I agree totally with You (no offense intended).

We all know that the hindustanian immigrant stole B-2 secrets and sold them to China for a few Million Dollars....but does anyone know if he sold the same secrets to his home country of Hindustan/Bharat ??
What in hell is going on? Why are you repeatedly trying to flame Indians by refering to India as Hindustan. You are nothing but a racist flame biter masquerading as a serious debater. Industrial espionage has been going on since the time any industry was founded.

I am sorry for posting off topic, but I have a problem with this kind of flamebiting.
